Geez, such a whiny Pope... You know, there are people all over the world who have to go without zombies every year! You go back to your palace and rethink your attitude, or no wine with Mass, just grape juice!

That's just cruel. Waterboard me, shove bamboo shoots under my nails, anything but REO Speedwagon!

I can see that happening...

I used to use Macs exclusively; I'm now PC-exclusive. Still the same person. The "Windows/OS(whatever number)/Linux" wars are even worse; I can feel the Godwin's Law violations happening as I write.

@LB: Evidently I have, or otherwise you'd know that "katana" is like saying "gun": basicly correct, but lacking a grasp of the many and varied variations on the concept. For example, katanas came in many varieties - short, long, heavy, light, long- and short-handled, thick and thing bladed, and virtually every other style you might think of. A "dotanuki" style katana was intended to literally cleave the body, and was used for executions in feudal-era prisons... which were accomplished by beheading with a sword. Hard to draw-cut through a spinal column.

I really don't know where this "brittle" concept of katanas is coming from. A well-made katana (i.e., one that has been folded and forged, not stamp-pressed out of stock) has two different qualities of metal: rigid and crystalline in the cutting edge, tough and flexible on the spine. A katana can take much more force in-line with the cut and still stay true to its shape than a western-style blade. As for sideways shear, any thinner blade suffers from that problem, even hand-and-a-half swords. If you want universal durability, get a mace or a maul; kinda low on the subtlety scale, but gets the job done.
