Sims 3: Late Night will give our computers a major case of Deja Vu this fall.
EA recently announced that this Fall we’ll see the release of the 3rd expansion pack for The Sims 3,
Nightlife, Late Night.
According to the press release, this expansion will allow sims the opportunity to hang out at a variety of clubs, from dive bars to dance clubs. Sims can join bands, mix tracks, direct or even become a local celebrity. Late Night will also give sims the opportunity to become vampires and lounge about in hot tubs. There will also be a selection of new cars for sims to…buy…
Wait, I could swear I’ve heard this somewhere before. Oh that’s right, The Sims 2: Nightlife.
At first glance (and really, that’s all this is) The Sims 3: Late Night is nothing more than a remake of The Sims 2: Nightlife. And in some ways that might not be a bad thing. The Sims 2: Nightlife was a pretty good expansion for the game and after the last The Sims 3 expansion, Ambitions, I’d really like to feel like I’m spending my money on something worth while.
One aspect that has always annoyed me about The Sims 3 was its departure from the silly nature of the previous games. Alien babies, wacky devices, and multiple starting towns were some of the items dropped when they made The Sims 3. From the look of it though, these items are making a comeback via the expansions. Ambitions gave us wacky inventions, and Late Night is giving us Vampires and hot tubs (about damned time too). One thing I’ve missed in the previous expansions is introduction of strange new sim types. In The Sims 2, the expansions gave us the opportunity to play as sim Werewolves, Plant people, Bigfoot (bigfeet?), Witches, Warlocks, Robots, Zombies and Vampires.
Though if this trend does continue, expect the next expansions to be The Sims 3:
University College, The Sims 3: Pets Dogs & Cats, and The Sims 3: Seasons Moneywaster.
