We’re off to see The Wizard!
XSEED Games has shipped The Wizard of OZ: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road to retailers today in North America exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road, licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is based on the cult classic film abd book The Wizard of OZ. Released as RIZ-ZOAWD by D3Publisher in Japan, The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road is an RPG inspired by the tale of Dorothy and her magical journey through the Land of Oz, showing what happened after reaching the end of the Yellow Brick Road.
Beyond the Yellow Brick Road takes gamers on an adventure through Oz with Dorothy, her dog, Toto and others as they become RPG heroes. A tornado suddenly strikes a small farm in Kansas, savagely uprooting Dorothy and Toto with just one gust. After hours of dancing around in the bushel of wind, the pair eventually settles in an unfamiliar countryside. It is here Dorothy learns that the only way to return home is by following the ominous voice calling out to her to the end of the Yellow Brick Road. On her journey, Dorothy encounters some unlikely characters who eventually decide to join her on her quest.
Utilizing the touch screen capabilities of the DS, all actions are completely controlled by the stylus, including Dorothy’s movement and speed which respond to the rotation of a large trackball on the bottom screen that is spun using the stylus. THE WIZARD OF OZ: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road also features turn-based battles from a first-person viewpoint, with multiple customization options allowing the game to recommend the best actions per turn for expedited play, or manual entry for more involved gameplay.

Second Half-Minute Hero demo on the way
XSEED Games announced that the second of two downloadable demos for the upcoming speed RPG, Half-Minute Hero PSP, will be available to download starting September 24th. This demo will feature Evil Lord Mode, a real-time strategy game where players will take control of the powerful, and obnoxiously gorgeous, Evil Lord. In this mode players must summon monsters to fight enemies. Summon monsters are divided into three types: Brutes, Nimbles and Shooters, and enemies are also divided up into the same categories. Each type of monster or enemy has advantages/disadvantages towards another type of monster or enemy. Figuring out the best strategy to use against each type is crucial as when the time limit reaches zero, your reign of evil is over.
This second demo will be available for download through PlayStation Network on Thursday, September 24th. Half-Minute Hero is published by XSEED Games and will be released in October 2009 at retailers across North America.
