Gorillaz headline Rock Band 2 tracks next week

Harmonix will release a three pack of songs from Gorillaz, the virtual band created by Blur’s Damon Albarn, including songs from Demon Days and the band’s self-titled release; as well as four singles from legendary classic rock artists The Band, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane and The Who. All tracks, which mark the first time these artists other than The Who have appeared in Rock Band, will be available in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Additional tracks from KISS, Blink-182, Weezer, Lenny Kravitz and more will be available in the Wii Rock Band Music Store next week, and tracks from Iron Maiden will be available for Rock Band Unplugged.

weezer Weezer tracks headline Rock Band DLC next week genresHarmonix announced that Weezer, Blink-182 and KISS, will have three packs of songs added to the Rock Band Music Storenext week, along with a single from Damone, for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Tracks from Kings of Leon, Rancid, Rise Against, Mötley Crüe and more will be available in the Wii Rock Band Music Store, and tracks from James Gang and Alien Ant Farm will be available for Rock Band Unplugged. A full listing of all these tracks can be found after the break.

This week in Rock Band: Pearl Jam and more

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that three tracks from Pearl Jam will be added to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Harmonix also announced that 16 tracks from Weezer, Nine Inch Nails, Dead Kennedys and more coming this week to the Rock Band Music Store Wii catalog.

Pearl Jam songs “Brother,” as well as live recordings of “Alive” and “State of Love and Trust,” from this year’s reissue of the band’s classic debut album, Ten, will be available this week in the Rock Band Music Store. The tracks will be available for purchase as part of the “Ten Bonus Pack” or as individual tracks for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Meanwhile, Wii Rock Band and Rock Band 2 owners will get some new tracks for various artists beginning June 23. All of the new tracks come from the back catalog of Rock Band music already released to owners of Xbox 360 and PS3.

guitar Guitar Hero Returns to DS with Modern Hits casualWith the pending release of the GBA port-less DSi looming just around the corner, it looks like Activision wants to milk the portable Guitar Hero experience for all it’s worth before the game’s custom fret peripheral is forced to go the way of the dodo. Earlier today, the company announced the upcoming release of Guitar Hero: Modern Hits for the Nintendo DS. The new game will feature a set list comprised of more than 25 master tracks from various artists including Coldplay, Fall Out Boy and Weezer.
