Warhawk - Operation: Fallen Star This Week

warhawk Warhawk - Operation: Fallen Star This Week online-playThe third expansion for Sony’s Warhawk has been given an official name, and that name is Operation: Fallen Star. Besides revealing some more details about this new free expansion, Sony also revealed that it would be released on August 28 on the PlayStation Network.

Operation: Fallen Star features a new level called Tau Crater. It is described as a “smoky, forested island” featuring vertical elements to give players the ability to utilize the jet pack. these spaces include giant trees that you can fly up into and land on, a giant recovery crane with lots of trusses and platforms to fly around, and the wreckage of a gargantuan capital ship lodged into the earth. There are, of course, other new elements coming with the new expansion, but you’ll have to read the official PlayStation Blog to learn more.

Operation: Fallen Star is being released on August 28th worldwide and is $7.99 at the PlayStation Store. A new Booster Combo Pack will also be available that includes all 3 of the expansions for only $15.99. The free v1.5 Update goes LIVE on August 27th.

warhawk Warhawk v1.5 Update Detailed action Sony today revealed details on what Warhawk players can expect when the latest update is unleashed at the end of this month on the PlayStation Network. The 1.5 update will give players the ability to use the XMB music player to play their own custom music - and the ability to detect the XMB player and automatically disable the in-game tunes.

Also a part of the update are 56 trophies (including some for the booster packs), 4 tutorials that can be played offline so new players can learn the ropes before jumping online (Infantry, Ground Vehicles, Aircraft and Flight Practice - completing these unlocks a trophy), fixes for several exploits, and rewards for special players that were earned during previous contests and competitions.

PS3 Greatest Hits Unleashed

Sony Computer Entertainment kicks off the PS3 Greatest Hits program this week, giving consumers a cheaper retail price point for select best selling PS3 game titles. Retailing for $29.99 each, games making the first Greatest Hits list include Warhawk, Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Call of Duty 3, EA Sports Fight Night Round 3, Need for Speed: Carbon, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin’s Creed, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

If you missed these games when they were originally released, the lower price point should prove to be a strong motivator to get out there and buy them.

PlayStation Store Revamp April 15

On April 15, the new and improved PLAYSTATION Store will launch, according to SCEA. Along with an all new look, the store will offer improved navigation, more functionality and — most important of all - new content. The facelift comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PlayStation Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation.

The new design promises a “hugely improved” navigation system, much greater scope for categorization and a new user interface. The Store will also see a selection of new content available on April 17, with the launch of the Metal Gear Online beta. Also available will be Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror and two new Lair packs (Diabolical Dragons Pack and Skyguard Upgrade pack). Finally, a collection of new trailers will show up on the store including the latest for GTA IV, as well as a Sega Superstars tennis demo.Look for the flashy new design next week.
