Dead Space Extraction in stores this week
Visceral Games announced today that Dead Space Extraction has shipped to retail in Europe and will be shipping in North America on September 29th. Designed exclusively for the Wii, Dead Space Extraction is the first title to ship under Visceral Games’ new studio name. Dead Space Extraction is the prequel to last year’s hit horror action game set on a decrepit space station overrun by alien monstrosities.
The Wii game tells the story of four space colonists trying to escape a mysterious infection of unknown origin. Dead Space Extraction explores the origins of the necromorph invasion that threatens humanity and the universe. At the center of this group is Lexine, an important new heroine being introduced for the first time to the Dead Space storyline. As the crew continues to fight for their lives, it becomes clear that protecting her is their only hope for survival. Luckily, players are armed with an arsenal of weaponry, a control system built for the Wii, and the ability to recruit a friend to play cooperatively, a first for the Dead Space franchise.
Dead Space Extraction is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. The game will be available for MSRP $49.99 on the Wii.
Composer Garry Schyman to score Dante’s Inferno
Visceral Games announced today that award-winning film, television and video game composer Garry Schyman will be creating the score for the third person action adventure game Dante’s Inferno. The renowned composer, who has won many prestigious awards (most recently for his work on BioShock), is creating a dramatic score that sets the tone for Visceral Games’ adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem.
The orchestral score and chorus were recorded in July at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Metro Voices Singers. The score soundtrack is planned for release in early 2010.
“Literally being asked to score hell was fantastic especially once I saw the surrealistically frightening world that Visceral Games had developed, said Garry Schyman. “I thought long and hard about every piece of music I wrote to create something new, surprising and fitting. It has turned out to be one of the most creative experiences in my career.”
Dante’s Inferno will be available in North America beginning on February 9, 2010 and in Europe on February 12, 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP.
