Flipnote Hatena: helping users flip out with Flipnote Studio
For those of you out there that own a DSi and picked up the recently released Flipnote Studio application, here’s a website that can help you share all your creations. It’s called Flipnote Hatena and what it does is allow users to upload and share their silly little flipnote animations with the world.
Visitors can view Flipnotes made by users, rate them, comment on the ones you like, and easily post Flipnotes you like to your blog or other websites.
To do all this, simply connect your Nintendo DSi to the Internet to access Flipnote Hatena where you can post your Flipnotes, view everyone’s Flipnotes and rate the Flipnotes that you like. Easy peasy.
Users created content for Spore Galactic Adventures hits 100K
While it has only been a month since the launch of Spore Galactic Adventures, EA’s Maxis studio is reporting a major milestone today: more than 100,000 user-created adventures. Spore fans have created imaginative, wacky and fun missions with the game’s Adventure Creator. These adventures include such notables as The Silent Beacon, Valley of a Thousand Deaths and The Fog. More details on these missions can be found at the Sporepedia at www.spore.com.
Spore Galactic Adventures lets players take their creations from Spore on various kinds of adventures or make their own as noted above. This expansion pack requires the original game to play, of course. Available for PC and MAC® for $29.99, Spore Galactic Adventures is rated E10+ by the ESRB.
City of Heroes Mission Architect Launches
City of Heroes players have waited a long time to hear that the Mission Architect system has been launched. Part of Issue 14: Architect, the system adds users created content into NCsoft’s super hero action MMO. This is certainly a milestone for the game and for MMO’s in general. Players now have the power to create and share their own custom missions and story arcs, generating user-generated content for the City of Heroes community.
In addition to allowing players to create their own missions using existing assets from the game, players may also use the Mission Architect system to personalize their stories by building their own characters and enemy groups using City of Heroes’ Character Creator system. Players will be able to publish up to three story arcs per account which will be displayed to all players across all servers in the Mission Architect system. Each user-created story can have up to five missions containing up to twenty-five individual objectives. Players will even be able to write custom dialogue for their missions, offering true flexibility in dynamic story telling.

Gamer Creates Hitler for FaceBreaker
One has to wonder why a pugilist bearing the likeness of Adolph Hitler is the most downloaded user created character for EA’s boxing game FaceBreaker - available by the company’s EA Sports World web site.
Is it because people want to beat the hell out of history’s most notorious demon, a man that epitomized evil and wiped out millions? Or could this seemingly harmless user created character be used as a way to promote antisemitism? Or perhaps we are reading way too much into all this? In cases like this, the voice of the community is paramount, because both viewpoints could prove to be true.
Whatever the reasons for this character’s popularity (as small as it is according to its statistics on the EA Sports World page), one thing is for certain: EA Sports is either unaware of its existence or is fine with it. We gave EA the opportunity to respond one way or the other, but as of this writing we haven’t received one. We’ll follow this story and tell you how it ends but we’d love to hear what you think? Controversial or much adu about nothing? Sound off!
And if the page suddenly disappears, you can see the original in this EA Sports World page screenshot we took earlier today.
Thanks to Harold Goldberg for the tip!
