Queen headlines Rock Band DLC next week

Rock Band Metal Track Pack rocks out at retail

Harmonix and distribution partner Electronic Arts have released Rock Band Metal Track Pack, a standalone disc of 20 tracks hand-chosen by the gods of metal themselves (who apparently work at Harmonix or are imaginary). Available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and the Wii. So how much would you pay for this disc? 49.99? To quote Bob Barker, “the suggested retail price for Rock Band Metal Track Pack is $29.99.”

This collection includes tracks from Black Tide, Evile, Godsmack, Lamb of God, Queen of the Stone Age and six new songs brand new to the Rock Band platform from Blue Oyster Cult, Hawkwind, I Mother Earth, Motörhead, Nazareth and Rage Against the Machine. These six songs will be exclusive to the Rock Band Metal Track Pack for a limited time. Complete track list after the break:

Pearl Jam’s Backspacer coming to Rock Band

Harmonix and MTV Games will deliver Pearl Jam’s new album, Backspacer, to the Rock Band Music Store for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii right around the same time that the album is released at retail stores album hits store shelves Sept. 20, and will be added to the Rock Band Music Store for Xbox 360 on Sept. 20, for Wii on Sept. 22, and for PlayStation 3 on Sept 24.

Ten became available for download in the Rock Band Music Store day-and-date with the reissue of the album March 24, 2009, and has sold more than 850,000 song downloads to date. Pearl Jam is touring in promotion of the new album from August through October in the United States and Europe. Track list below:

Anvil headlines Rock Band Store next week

Anvil, Dinosaur Jr., The Guess Who and Tenacious D will have new tracks in the Rock Band Music Store next for Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 according to Harmonix. Rock Band Unplugged will get Bring me to Life from Evanescense and Back from the Dead from Spinal Tap as well.

PAX performer tracks on Rock Band next week

The two three-packs of songs from bands appearing at the Penny Arcade Expo this weekend will be available for download in the Rock Band Music Store for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. The packs feature Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, Paul & Storm and Freezepop. Additional tracks from Avenged Sevenfold, The Jam, Oasis and Rage Against the Machine will be available in the Wii Rock Band Music Store, and tracks from Stone Roses and Godsmack will be available for download for Rock Band Unplugged on PSP. More Beatles Rock Band Tracks Revealed

MTV Games and Harmonix announced 19 more of the 45 on-disc tracks that will be featured in The Beatles: Rock Band - leaving all, but one song a mystery. A gameplay trailer featuring ten of the 19 newly announced songs can be viewed by visiting www.thebeatlesrockband.com.

 On a personal note I am so delighted that it included Helter Skelter. Now Charles Manson can truly enjoy Beatles Rock Band - I just hope the secret messages he heard the last time around won’t cause him to kill again. Okay, i’m all done being a smart ass. Spinal Tap invades Rock Band next week

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced they will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the theatrical release of This is Spinal Tap, by making available new versions of the songs featured in the cult classic film and its 1984 soundtrack album. The songs will be available in the Rock Band Music Store next week on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Additional tracks from Black Sabbath and Foo Fighters will be available in the Wii Rock Band Music Store, and tracks from Jane’s Addiction and Styx will be available for Rock Band Unplugged.
