Tiberium Canceled
The first action style game in the Command & Conquer series since Renegade has been canceled according to a Wall Street Journal report. The bad news was delivered by EALA studio head Mike Verdu, who proclaimed the game officially dead.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end to all work on ‘Tiberium,’ effective immediately,” said Verdu.
This is a bit surprising, considering that the company had recently pushed the game to late 2009. But apparently, instead of moving forward, EA decided to pull the plug. Along with this news, the report notes that there will be layoffs, but how many that would affect was not revealed at press time.
Tiberium was described as a tactical squad-based game featuring single-player and co-op play set in the Command & Conquer universe. Playing as a retired GDI field commander, the player takes control of R.A.I.D (Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment) in an effort to beat back the advances of Scrin.
