writer0010_225 Harold Goldbergs Game Junkies Save The World! industry The Game Trust is an eclectic group of the most talented game journalists in the United States, so it never surprises us when one of our own decides to delve even deeper into the back story of the game industry’s long and storied history. Harold Goldberg is certainly not a stranger to writing books (his first was a book called My Life Among The Serial Killers, which he co-authored with Helen Morrison), but his new book is of particular interest to gamers because it promises to explore the game industry - from its humble beginnings all the way to the billion dollar industry it is today.

Over the past year, I’ve been carefully honing, editing, changing and adding to a book proposal,” Goldberg said in a note he plans to post tomorrow. “Right now, the book is called Game Junkies Save The World!

The new book may not be a departure from the excellent travel logs, reviews and columns he regularly contributes to Crispy Gamer, but it certainly different from My Life Among The Serial Killers. Published in over 17 countries, and serialized in The Times of London, the book he helped co-author was a dark, difficult book to write because of its subject matter and disturbing context.

Game Junkies Save The World! is described as a book that “delves deeply into the fascinating stories, anecdotes and facts that have not yet been reported in an industry that’s actually been around for 50 years (if you take Higinbotham’s bold experiment at the Brookhaven National Laboratory as a starting point).”

The new book will be published by Random House, a publisher that Goldberg says gets the whole concept of the book.

Our very own Scott Jones recently shaved and put on a very loud shirt (my opinion - man that thing lit my eyes on fire!) for an appearance on the CNN gaming segment Get Your Game On. Scott talks about how to “get your game on” and still be able to afford to do the basics.. like eating. Yay for eating! Check out the segment after the jump:
