BioShock & Oblivion bundle in July
2K Games and Bethesda Softworks are teaming up to bring a double dose of award winning games to the PC and Xbox 360. A new retail package will be released on July 7 offering The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from Bethesda Softworks and 2K Boston’s BioShock in one box. Dubbed the BioShock & The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Bundle, this new release will sell for $39.99 on Xbox 360 and $29.99 for Windows PCs.
If you don’t own either one of these games, this is a pretty decent value, though it doesn’t appear to contain the downloadable content for Oblivion on either platform. If you already own both of these games, you’re not missing out on anything here.
The BioShock & The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Bundle is rated M by the ESRB. For more information on BioShock check out www.bioshockgame.com. For more information on Oblivion visit www.elderscrolls.com.
Two Elder Scrolls Novels on the way
Bethesda Softworks and book publisher Del Rey will publish two novels based on Bethesda Softworks’ high-fantasy video game series, The Elder Scrolls. The books will be written by New York Times bestselling author Greg Keyes. Keyes is best known for the Age of Unreason tetrology (for which he won the prestigious “Le Grand Prix de l’Imaginaire” award), and three New York Times bestselling Star Wars novels in the New Jedi Order series.
The first novel – The Infernal City – is set to be published in Fall 2009. The Infernal City is set after the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and finds the citizens of Tamriel once again facing an uncertain future. Floating high above the land is a strange and mysterious city that is casting a horrifying shadow – wherever it falls, people die and rise again as undead. It is up to an unlikely duo – a seventeen-year-old girl named Annaig and the Emperor’s young son, Prince Attrebus – to rescue the kingdom from doom. Annaig and Attrebus’ quest will take them through the Elder Scrolls universe and their adventure is sure to add to the series’ mythology.
Could this book be a hint at some of the plot line we can expect in the next Elder Scrolls game? We hope so.

The Rundown: Jan. 23, 2009

So long New York! Today’s Rundown was written mostly on a train headed for upstate New York. The lady next to me got train sick and proceeded to cup her mouth for most of the trip. Not exatly the best way to end what was overall a wonderful trip to the Crispy offices, but hey we roll with the punches. On to the news after the break.

PS3 Greatest Hits Unleashed
Sony Computer Entertainment kicks off the PS3 Greatest Hits program this week, giving consumers a cheaper retail price point for select best selling PS3 game titles. Retailing for $29.99 each, games making the first Greatest Hits list include Warhawk, Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Call of Duty 3, EA Sports Fight Night Round 3, Need for Speed: Carbon, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin’s Creed, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
If you missed these games when they were originally released, the lower price point should prove to be a strong motivator to get out there and buy them.
