2.6 million copies of Tekken Shipped
No matter what Scott Jones thinks of Tekken 6 (read his freshly penned review where calls me a cheap bastard for some reason), it is proving to be a top seller for publisher Namco Bandai Games. Across all platforms the game have shipped over 2.5 million copies of the standard retail, Arcade Stick and Limited editions shipped to retailers worldwide for launch. Europe is having a big impact on Tekken 6 - or at the very least Namco Bandai Games and retailers’ expectations of the game’s potential. Shipped just means that retailers want copies of the game in their stores in the hopes than fans want to buy the game.
Tekken 6 is available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 now.
Penny Arcade tackles the mysteries of TEKKEN 6
Namco Bandai Games America and the makers of the Penny Arcade comic strip (Gabe and Tycho) have teamed up to create a limited comic strip series for TEKKEN 6, the latest installment in the popular fighting game franchise.
Launching today, the six-part series is an entertaining take on the mysterious past of one of TEKKEN 6’s elusive characters - in other words, made up. Penny Arcade and TEKKEN fans can view the strip on the game’s official site.
TEKKEN 6 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 October 27, while the PSP version will be released on November 24.

Tekken 6 invades EVO Championship Series
Namco Bandai Games announced plans to host a major national tournament for its upcoming beat ‘em up Tekken 6. The King of the Iron Fist Tournament will take place at the EVO Championship Series in Las Vegas, Nevada. This tournament will be held during July 17-19th in the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino. This is your chance to check out the console versions that won’t hit store shelves until fall 2009.
“We’re ecstatic to publicly unveil the home console version of TEKKEN 6 at this year’s EVO Championship Tournament,” said In Joon Hwang, brand manager at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. “Not only will this be the first time Tekken fans will be able to get their hands on the console version of the title, but to have the world’s premier Tekken competitors taking the game through it’s paces will be a memorable experience.”

TEKKEN 6 scenario campaign details

Namco Bandai Games America has revealed first details on a new Scenario Campaign mode for TEKKEN 6 at E3. The new mode for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Tekken 6 will allow players to participate in single or two player online co-op campaigns with large-scale battles and open environments.
The Scenario Campaign features a hybrid control system combining conventional fighting game controls with free movement, which apparently allows players to progress through the story, mow down tons of enemies and still enjoy a fighting game style of action. In addition to hand-to-hand fighting, players have an arsenal of staffs, machine guns, flame throwers, and even giant robots at their disposal. I’m not sure that giant robots are a good idea, but to each their own.
Players can choose from 40 characters and play solo or cooperatively online with a friend through various stages while collecting items for customization and strengthening your character. The characters that you customize can be used online for regular fights as well.
TEKKEN 6 is being developed for PS3, Xbox 360, and PSP. The PSP version will offer additional content, items, and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode. All three games will be released this fall.
