Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny now downloadable

Namco Bandai Games America announced that Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is now available for the PSP through the PlayStation Network. Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is the first handheld iteration in the series and offers new gameplay modes, a more robust character customization feature, and a diverse roster of warriors. The digital version of the game is to support play on the new PSP Go, released today.

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and is now available for download at the PlayStation Store for $39.99.

Namco Bandai Games America Has released Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny to North American retail stores for the PSP (read Evan Narcisse’s review for our take on the game). Developed by Project Soul, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is the first handheld iteration in the series that promises to deliver weapon-based fighting in addition to new gameplay modes, a more robust character customization feature, and a roster of familar warriors from the series. Players can battle as one of the many returning favorites or use the character creator to make their own personalized warrior. Also new combatants have entered the ring as well including special guest character Kratos, from Sony Computer Entertainment America’s God of War.

The game also offers an all new single player Trials mode, Critical Finishes, Soul Crushes, Equipment Destruction, over 80 exercise missions, Training mode and ocal wireless battles using the PSP system’s ad hoc networking.

Hey you got your Kratos in my Broken Destiny! Namco Bandai Games announced that the popular God of War star will be a playable character in the upcoming SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny game for PSP. Developed by Project Soul exclusively for the PSP, SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny promises its signature weapon-based fighting, challenging single-player modes, head-to-head multiplayer and little extras like the ability to play as Kratos.

Kratos managed to score a guest star slot because:

1) He’s cool.

2) Namco Bandai thinks he’s cool.

3) SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio thinks SOULCALIBUR is cool.

SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny for the PSP will be released in North America this summer.

Namco Bandai reveals E3 line-up

Namco Bandai Games America announced some of its plans for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, June 2-4, 2009. At its booth, attendees will be able to enter a two-day TEKKEN 6: Bloodline Rebellion tournament and preview nearly a dozen titles from a variety of consoles including Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.

Games on display include TEKKEN 6, Dead to Rights: Retribution, SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny, Active Life: Extreme Challenge for Wii and much more.

As an added draw for E3 attendees, NAMCO BANDAI Games will host the two-day TEKKEN 6: Bloodline Rebellion arcade tournament at its booth on Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4. Sign-ups will begin Tuesday, June 2, at the booth, with competitions running at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on June 3 and June 4. The winner of the 2 p.m. tournament will be invited to compete against the winner of the 4 p.m. tournament for a grand prize on each of these days.
