G4’s Serious Sam HD trailer

G4TV.com has a brand new and exclusive video showing off just how amazing Serious Sam HD looks. Apparently, according to my friends over at G4TV.com, this is not your average video game trailer and is apparently better than a loveless marriage. I have to disagree - a loveless marriage is the perfect environment for playing 60 hours of World of Warcraft a week. Think about the next time you think your sour relationship is a bad thing. Lemonade from lemons, my friends.

Anyway, checking the video below or visit G4TV.com directly.

The Serious Tweet Contest

sshd0 The Serious Tweet Contest action Twitter users are going to have a hand in providing (what everyone hopes will be) clever one-liners that will be in both Serious Sam HD on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 and PC. Developed by Croteam and Devolver Digital, and published by cdv Software Entertainment and Majesco Entertainment, Serious Sam will hit both platforms this summer.

The Serious Tweet Contest, as it is being called by its originators, gives gamers a chance to write their very own clever one-liner or hilarious wisecrack that Sam ‘Serious’ Stone will drop right in the middle of all the frantic shooting action in Serious Sam HD. The winner will have his or her line recorded by John J. Dick, the voice of Serious Sam, and put into the upcoming summer release. In addition to having the winning line in Serious Sam HD, the winner’s name will be put in the credits of the game.

To take part, can log on to Twitter and send a clever tweet to @devolverdigital between July 15 and July 30. Croteam will choose the winning line and Devolver Digital will announce it to all followers of www.twitter.com/devolverdigital and www.twitter.com/majesco in early August.

How Serious Sam HD could be on PlayStation Network

sshd0 How Serious Sam HD could be on PlayStation Network action

Last week it was revealed that Croteam was working on an HD re-release of its popular first-person shooter for PC and Xbox Live Arcade. Conspicuously absent from that news was mention of a PlayStation Network version of the game. PS3 owners may have been wondering why Croteam would avoid trying to bringing to PSN. As Ascaron can tell you, developing games on multiple platforms can literally kill your company (see Sacred 2). But beyond the money, the man hours and the resources needed to develop on multiple platforms, there has to be a demand for the game - especially if it has to come out later than other versions..

To fill in the blanks, G4 spoke to Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric, who explained the reasoning on passing on a PSN version - at least for now. When Croteam decided to create an HD version of the game, the PSN was a part of that equation. But it wasn’t until the company tried to secure funding for it that it realized that it wasn’t going to happen right away. They tried finding another team to work on the game as well but couldn’t find a developer willing to commit to.

The only solution they could come up with was to create a PSN version after the PC and Xbox Live versions were complete. But again, problems arose:

We [have considered] doing PSN after we finish PC and XBLA,” said Ribaric. “However, we keep hearing over and over from publishers, investors, marketing and other suits that players from one console, in this case PSN, wouldn’t want to get it later, let’s say eight months and seven days after, if it’s released sooner on the other console, here that would be XBLA. I would normally say that’s a lot of bull, but I will refrain here from my comment. What do your readers think?”

And so, that is where the PSN version’s fate lies: with you. If Croteam gets a strong enough response for a PSN version to be released at some point later, will you buy it?

It would feel perfect to have it on PSN as well,” Ribaric added. “However, we are a garage team of 20 people, although with a larger garage now, working on Serious Sam HD for PC and XBLA platforms. Along that, we are developing Serious Sam 3 and Serious Engine 3 tech for both platforms. Now, I know we are good, but we are not that good to add PSN and finish at the same time. Just kidding, we are that good, but we are not supermen.”

There’s a bit more to the story, which you can only find on G4TV.com. Read it and then sound off if you want Serious Sam HD on the PlayStation Network. Or not.

Serious Sam coming to XBLA, HD version this fall

Update: cdv Software has confirmed that it is working with Croteam and Devolver Digital to bring Serious Sam HD for PC to retail and digital download platforms in all worldwide territories excluding Russia. This is a seperate product from the XBLA version and will be rebuilt using the Serious Engine 3.

Original Story
Serious Sam is coming to Xbox Live, according to what publisher Majesco has told Eurogamer. Majesco says that a revised version of Croteam’s popular first-person shooter, Serious Sam, will make its debut this summer on Xbox Live Arcade. The game will cost around 1200 Microsoft Points and will offer online co-op, 12 levels, and revamped visuals.

Released in 2001, Serious Sam is a critically acclaimed first-person shooter with perfect pacing, frenetic gameplay and enemy AI that swarmed the player at key moments within the game to create a truly unique action experience. The game is best described as a combination of Quake and Doom.
