50 Cent Talks Blood in the Sand Sequel

mountaincity_46-640x 50 Cent Talks Blood in the Sand Sequel actionIf you loved 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand than you might be interested to know that the Southside Queens MC is interested in doing a sequel. Speaking to MTV News, 50 Cent said that fans have reacted strongly to the game and that based on that a sequel might be a good idea.

50 is currently in New York shooting the film “12″ - MTV news caught up with him at a meet and greet for the game at at the Manhattan Play N Trade store.

“[Fans] said it’s a good video game,” he told MTV. “They enjoyed it.

“With the success of this actual project, we’ll try to do it again,” he added.

While 50 Cent might be hoping for a sequel, he doesn’t necessarily want his likeness to appear in the game:

“I’d like to be a part of designing and marketing a video game I’m not actually in,” he explained. “I talked to THQ.”

50 has also been trying to option the film rights to another property: Saint’s Row, though he didn’t have a lot to say about it. He did however note that the longer he negotiates the more it will probably cost him.

While this doesn’t mean a sequel is coming anytime soon it is interesting that he is talking to THQ about the possibility. Whatever happens, we’ll keep you posted.

header4 Kym Worthy and the Evils of Video Games action

I touched upon this yesterday in The Rundown, but today let’s analyze the particulars. This week Wayne County, Michigan Prosecutor Kym Worthy released her list of Top 10 Violent Video Games Played By Teens. The list, which is actually a rehash of the Mature rated section of games from the National Institute on Media and the Family Video Game Report Card for 2008, feature’s a who’s who of the most popular “M” rated games in North America. The link between “teens wanting to play these particular games” is tenuous at best, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Commentary: The Timothy Plan Video Game Report

reporta Commentary: The Timothy Plan Video Game Report action

The Timothy Plan, an investment group that offers a family of funds that are morally upright, has released a report called “An Inside Look Into: Video Games”, sure to whip the faithful into a frenzy. We assume that this report is for members that ascribe to the questionable notion that any investment firm is capable of claiming moral high ground or finding companies that don’t engage in some questionable practices.

Fable II Tops Oct. Charts

coverart00276 Fable II Tops Oct. Charts industryNo matter what you think of Fable II (great game, crappy game, whatever), Lionhead’s lofty RPG is doing very well at retail. According to retail sales data from NPD for the month of Oct., Fable II moved a respectable 790, 000 units, beating out such heavy hitters as Fallout 3, and LittleBigPlanet.

Fallout 3 for the Xbox 360 moved 375, 000 units, while LittleBigPlanet managed to move a meager 215, 000. If you’re looking for the big winner based on platform, then this month goes to the Xbox 360, with Wii coming in second and PS3 coming in last. So sorry, Sony.  The full top ten list after the break with all the dirty little numbers you hunger for.

Saints Row 2 Ships

sr2_prison01-640x Saints Row 2 Ships actionSaints Row 2 is at retail for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 giving players an alternative to Grand Theft Auto IV if that’s what they are looking for. In Saints Row 2, players lead the 3rd Street Saints in a battle against ruthless gangs and an evil corporation to reclaim the streets of Stilwater. Developed by Volition, Saints Row 2 features lots of customization options, third-person combat, both competitive and cooperative online multiplayer and an arsenal of weapons and vehicles.

We’ll have a review for this game later this week - we wanted to take some extra time to test the multiplayer component - which was woefully inadequate in the first game. Stay tuned.
