Insomniac Games: A Great Place to Work
What’s one of the best video game companies to work for in California? Insomniac Games, according to this year’s Employers Group “California’s Best Places to Work” survey. In fact, according to this survey Insomniac is the only game company to make this year’s list. This is the eighth year in a row that Insomniac has landed on the list since 2005, named the fifth best place to work in the state. There are other companies on this list, of course, but who cares? They don’t make Ratchet & Clank or Resistance, after all.
As an Insomniac’s unique culture, the company will celebrate its 15th anniversary by treating employees and their significant others to an all-expenses paid cruise to the Bahamas. But beyond the cool benefits, royalty programs, catered lunches, and massage therapy, every employee in the company gets to have a say in the direction of the company. That kind of atmosphere is why its employees want to retire from there.
But don’t take my word for it - Scott Jones can give you a first-hand account of what it is like to work at Insomniac in his Intern For Day: Insomniac Games report.

“There are a lot of big claims in the gaming industry but we’re confident when we say that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for PSP,” said Mark Hardy, European Marketing Director, SCEE. “Our fans have demanded big PSP titles and this year, we’re going to deliver again and again. With Resistance: Retribution, already on its way to stores, PSP gamers are going to get one big franchise after another.”
