Batman: Arkham Asylum for PC in Sept.

Eidos Interactive, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NVIDIA announced that the Games for Windows LIVE release of forthcoming DC Comics-licensed video game, Batman: Arkham Asylum, will feature NVIDIA PhysX technology. Hardware accelerated by NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, PhysX technology provides physics-based gameplay and behavior in games. Using the processing power of the NVIDIA GPU to render in-game physics objects in the environment that not only add to the overall look of the game, but create a more believable world.

Of course, those wanting to play the game on PC will have to wait a lot longer than other platform devotees; the Xbox 360 and PS3 version will be released on August 25th, 2009, in North America and August 28th, 2009, in Europe and Australia. The Games for Windows LIVE version of the game will be available beginning September 15th, 2009, in North America, and September 18th, 2009, in Europe and Australia.

Sessler’s Soapbox: delays are a good thing

In this week’s edition of Sessler’s Soapbox, G4’s Adam Sessler talks about why the recent wave of game delays are not necessarily a bad thing for gamers in the long run. I mean, it makes perfect sense to me that more development time means a better game; I’d rather have a balanced version of Splinter Cell Conviction than a buggy piece of crap at the end of this year. Some of these delays might be attributed to publishers being scared of their games not selling well against massive titles like Halo 3: ODST and COD: Modern Warfare 2 during a slow economy as well, according to Sessler’s thinking. Nintendo’s Latest Release Schedule

nintendo Nintendos Latest Release Schedule ds-platformsThis morning Nintendo released a partial retail release schedule of software it plans to ship this year for the Wii, Nintendo DS and WiiWare. Besides name dropping Swords & Sorcery and Night Game and announcing the official release date for Punch Out!! for the Wii, Nintendo listed a few  first party titles and a ton of third party games heading to North America. Nintendo is also banking on a huge boost in revenue when the DSi hits North America on April 5.

Check out the big messy software list after the break.

The Godfather II Pushed to April

coverart00844 The Godfather II Pushed to April actionIf you were looking to pick up The Godfather II this month, you’re out of luck. As you probably already know EA said earlier this month that it planned to shift the game’s release date to later in the year. Today it revealed that the new release date would be April 7th in North America and April 10th in Europe.

Developed at the EA Redwood Stores studio, The Godfather II will be coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC and will be rated “M”. One would assume that this extra time will be spent further polishing the game - and if we’re lucky - adding new content.

Nintendo’s DS, Wii Q1 Release Schedule

n0 Nintendos DS, Wii Q1 Release Schedule ds-platforms

Nintendo of America announced its first and third-party release schedule for the first quarter of 2009 and I have to say that, after sifting through it all day, there’s not much cause for excitement. The highlights (or spin as we like to call it) from Nintendo include reworked versions of Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis for Wii and new Fire Emblem and Pokémon games for the DS. Personal Trainer: Math will also make it way to the DS, which is sure to get the lines around the corners.

There are some bright spots, thanks to third-parties. On the Wii we can look forward to MADWORLD, The House of The Dead: Overkill, SONIC and the Black Knight from Sega; We Ski and Snowboard from Namco Bandai Games; and Tenchu: Shadow Assassins from Ubisoft.

On the DS we can look forward to Legacy of Ys: Books I & II from Atlus U.S.A., Puzzle Quest: Galactrix from D3 Publisher; Jagged Alliance from Empire Interactive; Suikoden Tierkreis from Konami; Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars from Rockstar Games; and FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Echoes of Time from Square Enix. For all the rest of this rather depressing list, keep on reading.

The Games That Time Forgot

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
