Raptr gets in-game support from Champions Online

Social game utility company, Raptr announced this morning that Cryptic Studios has joined the Raptr Partners Program. What this means to you is that Cryptic Studios will bundle Raptr with Champions Online, which is being released to retail today. The game’s official launch is also today.

Champions Online is also being integrated with Raptr APIs to surface game data such as character level, powerful items, and heroic achievements. By entering their Raptr username in the Champions Online in-game status sharing screen, players can automatically connect their Champions Online account to Raptr and share rank, status, items acquired, and achievements earned with their friends and other players. Cryptic was toying with this idea already with small little gifts to players like in-game Twitter access and Facebook support, so adding Raptr into the mix makes perfect sense.

Raptr members will have access to all this data they are sharing on a special Champions Online Raptr game page, which allows them to and track their achievements against all players of Champions Online.

Companies interested in signing up for the Raptr Partners Program can visit partners.raptr.com, while users can sign up for Raptr at raptr.com. Finally, more information about Champions Online can be found at www.champions-online.com.

Those interested in seeing how Raptr will work both on Raptr’s official site and inside Champions Online, need only click on the screenshots below:

Raptr adding support for PlayStation 3 Trophies

rap Raptr adding support for PlayStation 3 Trophies online-play

Raptr put a call out to its community today to help them test its social gaming technology with the PlayStation Network. In an interview with Crispy Gamer, Raptr CEO Dennis Fong had said that the company would add support for PSN game tracking as soon as Sony open up the system to allow for data sharing. That has happen with the latest PS3 update and Raptr has already deployed an alphas version of the PSN tracking software. Here’s more from the official Raptr page:

We’ve been saying all along that when PSN opens up their data, we’ll support it. Well, they finally did it! PSN released a new update on Thursday that shows off the trophies you’ve earned. 24 hours later, we’re happy to announce that we have an alpha version of our PSN integration working and we’d like you to help us test it!

Since we’re just testing, we’ve only enabled it for newly added PSN IDs to Raptr. If you’ve previously added your PSN ID to Raptr and you want to try it out now, you will need to go to your Account Settings > Identities page and re-add your PSN ID (Make sure you click “Save”). If you haven’t signed up for Raptr yet, simply create an account and add your PSN ID to your Identities.

After you’ve entered your PSN ID, Raptr will automatically add your Playstation 3 games and Trophies you’ve earned to your Raptr profile (Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your data to sync up as playstation.com is running a little slow right now). When you’ve earned a new PSN trophy (or when you’re done playing), go to your XMB and view your trophies. That will sync your PS3 with playstation.com and update your trophies.

Raptr will automatically detect and announce your newly earned trophies to Raptr as well as any external accounts you’ve bound (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).

We’ve been working hard to get this out there as we know you guys have been eager to see PSN integration on Raptr :-). We hope you enjoy it and please give us feedback on our forums on how we can improve upon it!

So if you are a Raptr user and want to show off your PS3 trophies, go change your account settings now.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
