The 2009 Pokémon Video Game National Championships is getting ready to kick off in St. Louis, Missouri - one of several events to find the best Pokémon Platinum players in the United States. The event will take place on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th in St. Louis at the America’s Center. Senior registration will take place from 8:30 - 9:30 A.M., followed by 11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. The battle starts shortly after registration and should run until 3pm.

Top players will earn an invitation and travel award to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships later this summer in San Diego, where they will get the opportunity to compete against top world players from Japan, England, Germany, and France.

Organizers of the St. Louis event are expecting a turnout of hundreds of Pokémon video game players from across the nation. On hand will be the top 4 players from previous Pokémon Video Game Regional Championships held in Seattle, San Francisco, Dallas, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Nashville over the past two months, along with friends and family members lending their support to competitors in both the Junior (born in 1997 or later) and Senior (born in 1996 or earlier) divisions.
