NetDragon to Launch Disney Fantasy Online

NetDragon Websoft Inc., one of China’s leading online game developers and operators, has decided that to celebrate its success, it’s going to Disneyland. The company, together with The Walt Disney Company’s Interactive Media Group announced yesterday that they are currently developing their first Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, “Disney Fantasy Online”, with a projected Spring 2009 launch.

Gamers who dive into Disney Fantasy Online will be dropped mouse ears first into a unique Disney-themed central world, created based on themes of the Magic Kingdom, playing alongside non-player Disney character hosts such as Mickey and Friends, preparing and training the gamers for the vast adventures that lie ahead. As gamers explore, complete quests, and level-up, they have the opportunity to acquire virtual items to personalize the gaming experience and enable them to explore additional worlds more extensively. Expansion packs with new adventures and maps will be constantly added to the game, providing endless opportunities for gamers to uncover new content and secrets.

Dungeon Keeper: The MMO

dung Dungeon Keeper: The MMO genresChina-based NetDragon Websoft announced a new licensing agreement with Electronic Arts this morning to developer and manage a massively multiplayer role-playing game based on the popular Dungeon Keeper line of games. NetDragon will have the rights to create the MMO using themes, characters and other game content. As part of this agreement, NetDragon will develop the game and obtains the exclusive license to operate and distribute Dungeon Keeper Online throughout the Greater China region, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.

Our partnership with this internationally renowned game developer is proof of our capabilities in game operations and development as well as a reflection of our market reputation,” said Mr. Liu Dejian, Chairman and Executive Director of NetDragon. “Capitalizing our strength to create a strong gaming experience, powerful operating platform and unmatched expertise within China’s online game market, we are confident that Dungeon Keeper Online will not only become successful in the Greater China region but also achieve remarkable results overseas.

No word on whether or not EA plans to bring this new franchise to North America or Europe.
