Black Box, the EA studio currently hard at work on Need for Speed Undercover, today dished out some details on the upcoming game’s online modes, including the all-new multiplayer mode, dubbed Cops and Robbers. This team-based mode pits two teams of four players against each other playing both sides of the law in a high speed pursuit.
In Cops and Robbers, one team of “robbers” must pick up a package and take it to a designated drop-off point while the cops attempt to prevent the delivery. Each game consists of two rounds, giving the players the chance to play as both the cops and the robbers. Besides playing Cops and Robbers, up to eight players will also be able to compete against each other in the more standard Sprint and Circuit multiplayer race modes.

Sony today revealed details on what Warhawk players can expect when the latest update is unleashed at the end of this month on the PlayStation Network. The 1.5 update will give players the ability to use the XMB music player to play their own custom music - and the ability to detect the XMB player and automatically disable the in-game tunes.
Also a part of the update are 56 trophies (including some for the booster packs), 4 tutorials that can be played offline so new players can learn the ropes before jumping online (Infantry, Ground Vehicles, Aircraft and Flight Practice - completing these unlocks a trophy), fixes for several exploits, and rewards for special players that were earned during previous contests and competitions.
Find out more about 1.5 by visiting the PlayStation Blog.

I stopped playing The Eye of Judgment ages ago but I know some of you out there are obsessed with it, so this story is for you: the EOJ World Championships begin August 14th. Besides the supposed prestige that comes with being the champion of Sony’s PS3 collectible trading card game, the winner will have the distinct honor of having their likeness on an in-game card and the chance to compete with Mr. Watanabe from the Japan studio.
The tournament will start on Thursday, August 14th, 12:00AM PST and run for one week until Thursday, August 21st, 12:00AM PST. Details on how to take part in this tournament can be found below:
1) Log in to PLAYSTATION Network and go online with THE EYE OF JUDGMENT in the usual way from Thursday, August 14th, 12:00AM PST.
2) Select ‘Online Tournament’ from the Online mode select screen.
3) Players will be matched up with another player to battle just the same as the regular way of Ranked Match.
Any points you earn from playing “Online Tournament” ranked matches before the close of the tournament will contribute to your position on the tournament leaderboard. The tournament scoring system is the same as that used for regular online ranked matches.

The number one reason anyone is still playing Battlefield: Bad Company is because of its multiplayer and EA wants players to continue the fun with some new content. That new content will come in the form of an update on August 7 which will deliver a brand new and familiar mode called Conquest.
Made famous by Battlefield 1942, Conquest mode pits players against each other in a fast-paced battle to eliminate the opposing team’s tickets. Players deplete their opponent’s tickets by one point per kill and can cause their opponents tickets to spiral downwards by capturing control points. Four maps that are currently available for online play in Gold Rush mode will be available in Conquest mode.
The new Conquest mode will be a free download on the PlayStation Store and Xbox 360 Marketplace later this week.

According to Microsoft’s GamerScore blog, you will never ever have to pay for getting achievements on your Games For Windows tittles again. That’s right my PC brethren and … sisteren, no more worries about having to have a Live account - at least on the PC. While Xbox Live players have to worry about their accounts expiring and buying more time (mine expires in mid-August! Yay!), Games For Windows - Live players are thumbing their collective noses at you today.
Microsoft revealed that the PC side won’t have to pay anything. The hope, in my estimation, is that freeing up the service will drive more gamers to the use it. Multiplayer and all the other abilities of Live are included.
Microsoft also said that Games For Windows Live Marketplace is in the works and will be launched sometime (no date, sorry) with free content, videos, demos and more. Will Games For Windows get themes and other goodies as well? They’d better or i’ll call my congressman who will admittedly do absolutely nothing.. except maybe get another earmark for Berkshire County!. So if you want to avoid causing further pork barrel spending, Games For Windows people, then you’ll heed my words..
