Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: Aquatic Festival released

Capcom has released a brand new quest for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite via the PlayStation Store. This new DLC, Aquatic Festival, will let you go out hunting with friends or your Felyne Fighter to the Moat Arena where you get to battle against four monsters in this Epic Hunting quest. Though the quest will be difficult for some, the rewards are great because this is, after all an epic hunt.

Capcom reports record first quarter results

Capcom’s first quarter 2009 financial results are good news for the worldwide publisher, with net sales of 19.4 billion yen ($204.6 million USD) - up 19.2 percent from the same period last year; operating income of 3.6 billion yen ($38.4 million USD) - up 23.0 percent from the period last year; and income of 4.1 billion yen - up 2.3 percent from the same period last year.

Resident Evil 5 continued to show sales grow with life-to-date shipment of 5.5 million, and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite also enjoyed prolonged sales - shipping a total of 3.5 million in Japan. Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS: Miles Edgeworth and - Sengoku BASARA Battle Heroes both made favorable showings in Japan. Capcom was not as pleased with games that they expected to better in Western markets like Bionic Commando - which moved 550,000 units for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for PlayStation Portable, which Capcom said showed weak performance.

Capcom also announced plans to delay Dark Void from a Christmas release window into the first quarter of 2010. Capcom also predicts that Lost Planet 2, due for release by year’s end, will sell 2.7 million units.

Capcom’s Comic-Con plans revealed

Games being features at Comic-con this year include Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth­ (with a never-before-seen demo, says Capcom), Lost Planet 2, Dark Void, Tatsunoko VS Capcom Ultimate All-Stars, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Resident Evil: The Dark Side Chronicles and Fate/Unlimited Codes. Capcom will be situated in Hall G in booth # 5113, Wednesday, July 22 – Sunday, July 26.

There you’ll be able to catch events like tournaments for Tatsunoko VS Capcom Ultimate All-Stars and Marvel VS Capcom 2 and 8 free Monster Hunter Freedom Unite quests that you can download if you bring your PSP and your game to the booth.

Free Monster Hunter Freedom Unite quests at Comic-Con

img000007d6_bmp_jpgcopy-640x Free Monster Hunter Freedom Unite quests at Comic-Con actionIf you are a fan of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and you plan on bringing your PSP to Comic-Con next week, then you’ll get a pleasant surprise from Capcom: 8 free quests. Capcom plans to make the San Diego Comic Con 2009 convention special by giving Monster Hunter Freedom Unite owners 8 large quests.

Capcom reckons that gamers will also want to bring at least two memory sticks because 6 will fill up one stick pretty easily. Size aside, these quests will offer something for both novice and hardcore Monster Hunter fans; 4 of the quests are suited for beginners and the rest are geared towards more experienced players.

These free quests are just the beginning: every Friday from now through 2010, new quests will be available for download for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, according to Capcom. Everything from challenge quests to event quests will add continuous hours of free play to the game.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite demo released

Capcom has released the playable demo for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PlayStation Network. The demo gives you a taste of the ultra popular action RPG hit for the PSP in Japan - under the name Monster Hunter Portable 2G. This latest installment in the Monster Hunter series delivers over 500 hours of gameplay spanning some 400 missions. The game will also feature previously unreleased monsters, weapons, missions, and a new single player mode enhancement called the AI Felyne feature. Accompanying players on quests, is this new furry ally who will help battle monsters and gather extra resources.

Other features include 1500 weapons and 2000 armor sets, 4 player team play through wireless Ad-Hoc, the ability to save the game to a memory stick for faster load times, and the ability to transfer character data from Monster Hunter Freedom 2.

Look for the game on June 23.

While you might have to wait until June 23 to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in North America, Capcom wants you to be ready for the journey. To get prepared, Capcom has launched the Encyclopedia Gigantica website. Hoping to prepare westerners for the arrival of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Capcom has enlisted the help of the top four Japanese Monster Hunters in the world. Amongst the four of them they have hundreds of years of experience hunting down some of the world’s most ferocious and challenging beasts. With the arrival date of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite coming up on June 23, this team of experts has passed on their knowledge in the form of the Encyclopedia Gigantica.
