Combat Arms hits 3 million registered user milestone
Nexon America’s multiplayer online first-person-shooter Combat Arms, recently surpassed three million registered users. The company says that the evolution of Combat Arms’ growth contributed to the explosive growth Nexon America experienced throughout the summer months. Nexon posted a 32 percent increase in revenue for August compared to August of 2008.
Combat Arms, which was launched in July of 2008, added large chunks of new content this past year, including the NutShot game feature, Quarantine Mode and Fireteam Mode. NutShot is exactly how it sounds. Quarantine Mode gives players the opportunity to play as or against infected zombie-like soldiers. Fireteam Mode allows teams of players to take on terrorists in a player-versus-environment setting.

Wii Sports Resort 1 million units sold, says Nintendo data
According to Nintendo’s internal tracking figures, sales of its Wii Sports Resort game have surpassed 1 million copies in the United States since its July 26 launch. Japan and Europe have also sold more than 1 million copies each since the title launched in their respective markets. The collection of 12 resort-themed sports activities is on its way to becoming another long-tail title that sells steadily over an extended period of time as opposed to a single flash on its launch day - or so Nintendo hopes.
Nintendo’s internal sales figures also show that more than 2 million Wii MotionPlus accessories are now in the hands of consumers in the United States. That includes those bundled with Wii Sports Resort and Electronic Arts’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, as well as those sold separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99 each.

Nintendo DS: 100 Million Units Strong
Hey, here is a bit of a non-shocker for you: The Nintendo DS handheld has shipped over 100 million units worldwide, as of March 6, 2009. Yeah, I know that no one is surprised by this, but I am positive this will not stop Nintendo from celebrating this impressive milestone. Nintendo is sure to blow that number out of the water when it releases the latest iteration of the handheld, the DSi, in Europe and North America in April.
Another important milestone for Nintendo is software sales: as of December 2008, 83 DS titles have shipped over one million copies each, with 7 of those titles pushing 10 million units each. Spiffy.
The DSi, which has had a great start in Japan, gives users two cameras, sound recording and playback capabilities and support for DS titles. The only thing bad about it is that it eliminates the GBA slot, which some peripherals (Guitar Hero) used..
Halo 3: One Billion Matches and Counting
Over the weekend Bungie’s Halo 3 hit a major milestone. Bungie reports that on Saturday at 6:36pm PST, in a three minute and nineteen second game of Infection on Foundry, four players participated in Halo 3’s one billionth match on Xbox Live. It’s an important milestone, says Bungie, because its predecessor, Halo 2 has not hit the one billionth match mark.
Sifting through the recorded data, Bungie also spit out some interesting statistics on Halo 3: The total matchmaking playtime 2,023,153,340,764 seconds, or 64,109 years of playtime. That’s a pretty amazing number, but i’d imagine if someone had been keeping track of the length of time spent playing Doom, Quake, Half Life or even Battlefield 1942, we’d see a similar numbers. But that’s not a knock against Halo 3 - it has an incredibly dedicated player base that will continue to play the game until the next game comes out.
