Nintendo DSi on top, PSP moves up in Japan
According to Media Create, the Nintendo DSi was the best selling console in Japan for the week of Oct. 19 - 25th, 2009. During the week Nintendo managed to sell 42,199 units, followed by the PSP with 32,865 and the PS3 finally beating out the Wii with 29,977 units.
No hell has not in fact frozen over - price cuts are like little miracles! Personally I think that the PSP go would be doing a lot better if its price point wasn’t more than the Wii at this point. Go figure. Full list below:
1 - DSi: 42,199
2 - PSP: 32,865
3 - PS3: 29,977
4 - Wii: 25,917
5 - DS Lite: 6,550
6 - Xbox 360: 4,470
7 - PS2: 1,951

Japanese hardware sales - May 11 - 17, 2009
Media Create has released hardware sales numbers for last week and it’s not good news. The average decline across all platforms was almost 35 percent. Chalk this up to a lack of system selling software or a general feeling of consumer indifference to video games, but it is not a good trend for the market. I hope that next week’s numbers will not be so depressing.
The DSi continued to top the sales charts, with the PSP coming in a close second, followed by the Wii, PS3, DS Lite, PS2 and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 is just didn’t sell too well during a week when consumers seems to be uncertain that spending money on concoles and games is a good idea.. or maybe i’m just reading too much into this week’s numbers.
- DSi 34,152 units - down 38.33
- PSP 28,683 units - down 33.31 percent
- Wii 15,116 units - down 38.04 percent
- PS3 11,605 units - down 37.21 percent
- DS Lite 4,888 units - down 37.50 percent
- PS2 4,020 units - down 21.74 percent
- Xbox 360 3,233 units - down 36.21 percent

DSi Rules Japan
Japanese hardware sales for Nov. 3 - Nov. 9 shot that the new Nintendo DSi is doing pretty well in the region, beating out every other platform out there including the usually impressive PSP. The DSi sold 104, 897 units during the week, followed in the distance by the PSP at 40, 726 units, the Wii at 24, 726, the PS3 at 18, 354 and Xbox 360 at 12, 759.
