Playlogic Entertainment’s Fairytale Fights in late October
Playlogic Entertainment’s Fairytale Fights will be available in retail stores nationwide Oct. 27 for Xbox 360 and PS3. The Unreal 3 engine powered mature themed action adventure puts players in charge of a not-so-friendly fairy tale character on a rampage for justice and personal honor.
Inspired by twisted cartoons like Happy Tree Friends and Itchy and Scratchy, and featuring a wildly colorful art style, players can cooperatively complete quests in the single-player storyline or compete in chaotic multiplayer battle with up to 4 players.
Features worth noting include cooperative play for up to four players, over 100 weapons to choose from, the promise of new downloadable content after the game’s release, a volumetric liquid system that makes use of various fluids (blood, vomit, goo) as stimuli for physics based actions and accidents allows players to cut anything off of any enemy anywhere in real time.
Sounds gratuitously violent and cute. The game will be released on Oct. 23 in Europe. More info can be found at www.fairytalefights.com.

ESA vs. the Chicago Transit Authority
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), challenging the CTA’s prohibition on certain computer and video game advertisements as a violation of the guarantees of free speech under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleges that the CTA is unfairly targeting the entertainment software industry by enacting an ordinance that selectively bans advertisements of computer and video games rated “Mature 17+” (M) or “Adults Only 18+” (AO).
In January of this year, the CTA enacted Ordinance 008-147, prohibiting any advertisement that “markets or identifies a video or computer game rated “Mature 17+” (M) or “Adults Only 18+” (AO).” The ESA’s suit contends that this new ordinance is unconstitutional and restricts speech in a public forum that is otherwise open to all speakers without a compelling interest for doing so. In addition, the complaint argues that the ordinance discriminates on the basis of viewpoint and ignores less restrictive means of achieving the supposed ends of the ordinance.

GTA: Chinatown Wars Predictions
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars may very well sell two million units in the United States, according predictions from an analysts at Cowen and Company. According to analyst Doug Creutz the game should do very well among hardcore gamers who already own a DS and early reviews will probably help sales.
The review data is based on whatever formula Metacritic uses to determine scores to work within their system. Metacritic has the game at 95 percent, based on reviews by Gamepro, Eurogamer and Games Radar. Look for our review soon - but don’t look for our review there anytime soon - our scoring system doesn’t break down well in such a system..
“Although the handheld platform has a younger-skewing installed base, we believe many core gamers own the DS,” wrote Cowen’s Doug Creutz in an note to investors. “The strong critical rating will likely increase the game’s chances of becoming a commercial hit.”
It makes sense, given that there are few DS games geared towards that hardcore, mature demographic. We’ll let you know just how well the game does in a couple of months I guess.

The Witcher: One Million Copies Sold
CD Projekt RED’s racy, adult themed action RPG, The Witcher, has managed to sell one million copies since its launch. Adding to sales was the recently released enhanced edition of the game. The game achieved this milestone in one year’s time, proving that a decent PC game developed by a small European studio can do very well. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, which was developed based on fan feedback, took the studio close to a year to make. For those that had already purchased the game, CD Projekt RED released a free update, which was mighty nice of them.
Michal Kicinski, co-founder of CD Projekt said that this is just the beginning for The Witcher franchise and that it felt good to make back the 11 million it cost to develop both version of the game. Right now the company is focusing on Good Old Games (its DRM classic game portal), but is considering bringingThe Witcher to select consoles.
The Witcher Enhanced For September
“Give it a date,” I say - to bastardize that famous saying from Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead.. Today CD Projekt RED announced that the enhanced version of its “M” rated action-RPG, The Witcher, will be released in the first half of September. So if you were expecting the revised and polished version of the game sooner, I guess you are shit out of luck.
So why the late date? CD Projekt said on its official blog that “setting the release date for September results from the requirement of polishing all ten language versions and releasing The Witcher Enhanced Edition in all languages at the same time.”
More details on what this new SKU will offer above and beyond the original release (besides better localization in a number of languages) can be found here. Boat drinks.

Midway today revealed This Is Vegas, an open-ended action game where players live out their secret fantasies to keep family themed entertainment out of Sin City. No, not those kinds of fantasies. You”ll be charged with partying like it’’s 1999 at the hottest clubs to make VIP connections, getting a fat bank roll by gambling, racing the fastest cars on the underground circuit to raise your reputation, and fighting off enemies to prove your strength. Midway says that this game will let you put the the sin back in sin city.
I’m just happy to see someone standing up for the important issues like saving the sterling image of Vegas from the horrors of the family friendly crowd. In your face, family of five from Idaho! Vegas doesn”t want your kind. Bring on the dancing girls and whatever washed up entertainer is in town this week…
