Smugglers IV - Doomsday demo released

Matrix Games and Niels Bauer Games have released a playable demo for Smugglers IV - Doomsday. The demo promises an in-depth look at the “fun and challenging” turn-based space-trading game. In addition, a new batch of screenshots are also available for viewing to mark the release of the demo. The demo is available from the Matrix Games downloads page and website including Worth Downloading, Patches-Scrolls, and Gamer’s Hell.

Matrix Games signs Armada 2525

armada Matrix Games signs Armada 2525 genresMatrix Games and Ntronium Games have inked a publishing deal for the real-time / turn-based space strategy game, Armada 2526. Ntronium Games, and founder R.T. Smith have been creating strategy games for more than 20 years, including the original 4x space classic Armada 2525. Most Smith was the project director and lead designer for Medieval 2: Total War. Prior to that he served as designer and programmer on the previous Total War games.

Matrix Games hopes that Armada 2526 will continue the great tradition of space opera games offering players exploration, empire building, research, diplomacy and trade, colonization, fleet control and command, and - of course - epic space battles. Armada 2526 promises a streamlined play system, and emphasizes battle and strategy over economic micro-management.

A release date is to be determined.

Smugglers IV - Doomsday lets players take command of a space ship and explore the galaxy trading and getting into all kinds of crazy situations as you either avoid or get involved in a galactic war. Like most other space trading games, Smugglers IV is open ended, allowing you to explore the galaxy at your own pace and define just what kind of character you want to be; whether that choice leads to bounty hunting, space piracy, or good old fashioned space merchant is up to you.

Key features include 60 different abilities and choose between 6 different professions (trader, combat trader, mercenary, bounty hunter, smuggler, and pirate), 24 star systems with over 75 planets to explore a variety of spaceships ranging from small fighters and corvettes to large freighters and battleships, crew combat (featuring battle droids, EMP weapons and commando attacks - you can board and capture enemy ships), turn-based space combat , advanced trade systems (supply-and-demand based pricing), special random locations and events (hidden treasures, spy ships, VIP traders, alien artifacts, etc.), simple and timely travel between planets and systems, and a whole lot more.

cdv Software titles coming to Matrix Games

cdv Software Entertainment and Matrix Games have signed a publishing deal to bring multiple cdv Software Entertainment titles to the Matrix Games community. Matrix Games is best known for publishing niche strategy and war game titles as well as the occasional role-playing and strategy game. Most of its offerings are usually from independent developers.

Particulars, like which games Matrix Games will carry on its site, were not revealed at press time, and a quick visit to the site reveals even less. Stay tuned.

Matrix Games, Slitherine Strategies, and Illustrious Studios have announced that Conquest! Medieval Realms is now available for purchase from Matrix Games for a download price of just $19.99.

Conquest! Medieval Realms is a turn-based game that combines the strategic gameplay of Chess and the key principles of military strategy in a historical setting using a hex-based playing field that you’d find in a classic war game. The objective is to conquer up to 7 opposing AI or human players by defeating their armies and capturing their lands.

the game lets you play the English or the French in the Hundred Years War or Wars of the Roses with up to 8 human players across a LAN or the internet, offers easy to learn game mechanics, 5 levels of AI controlled opponents to fight, campaign and skirmish modes, randomly generated maps and an editor to create your own maps and campaigns.

World War II: General Commander released

World War II: General Commander from indie developer Games GI is now available from Matrix Games. World War II: General Commander is an introductory strategy war game which brings a unique mix of scale, combat dynamics, and force management.

The game promises an intuitive combination of rules and controls that will give beginning wargamers and real time strategy fans the opportunity to simulate Germany’s famous last Blitzkrieg from either side. Players evaluate the tactical situation while monitoring overall strategy over real scale 3D maps.
