Rockstar Still Out of Luck on U.K. Manhunt 2 Release
It looks like Rockstar still can”t seem to catch a break in its battle to get Manhunt 2 on U.K. shelves. According to a report in news outlet The Metro, yesterday the High Court ruled against the Video Appeals Committee (VAC), who had previously overturned the British Board of Film Classification’’s (BBFC) decision to prevent the game from going on sale.
Mr. Justice Mitting ruled that VAC’s decision was flawed by a clear error of law when it came to the test for assessing the question of harm and told the committee that it must reconsider its decision. According to the news article, the BBFC argued that the committee’’s original decision had threatened to undermine its position as a content watchdog group, not just for videogames but for all entertainment genres, such as film.
What this all means for Rockstar, which has already tried to submit a new edition based on the cuts made for the M-rated U.S. edition of the game, is still unable to sell the game in the U.K.
