Written on February 25, 2009 at 11:55 am, by David Chapman
Earlier this week, Capcom raised the curtain on Lost Planet 2, via a trailer shown exclusively on Xbox LIVE. While the trailer showed off some gameplay footage and hinted at the plot, overall details on the game were scarce. Today, Capcom made the official announcement, releasing a few extra details on the game and hinting that there may have been more behind the LIVE debut than initially thought.

Lost Planet 2 Unveiled
Written on February 23, 2009 at 1:34 pm, by David Chapman
Last week, Microsoft and Capcom teased Xbox LIVE members, saying that Capcom would be announcing the development of a mystery new game not through the regular PR channels, but rather by releasing the news today via LIVE. Well, with the news of Dead Rising 2 breaking two weeks ago, gamers were left scratching their collective heads, wondering just what the new game would be. Never one to disappoint, Capcom greeted Xbox LIVE members early this morning with a new trailer, announcing the development of Lost Planet 2.

Dead Rising 2 Rumor and Denial
Written on January 28, 2009 at 10:44 pm, by James Fudge
It all started with the translation of an interview in the latest issue of Japanese print magazine Famitsu and it snowballed from there. According to the bit gleaned and translated by Kotaku from an interview with Capcom’s Keiji Inafune, sequels to Dead Rising and Lost Planet are pretty much confirmed:
“We’re finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games! As a main principle we’re thinking about multiplatform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 version.”
But Capcom was quick to try to minimize the rumor as a product of a “mistranslation.” Speaking to VG247, an unnamed Capcom representative offered the following quote:
“Dead Rising was a huge success for us and is obviously the kind of game we’d like to continue to make. However, at the moment we have made no official announcement regarding a sequel. As the source is Famitsu, I can only suggest that it was a mistranslation.”
Maybe Keiji Inafune misspoke, perhaps Kotaku mangled the translation (doubtful), or maybe he was speaking about another Dead Rising product. But it really doesn’t matter. We know that Capcom will make a sequel to Dead Rising, given the first game’s critical acclaim and respectable numbers. It’s not a matter of “if,” it’s a matter of “when.”

Brain Zoo’s E3 Showing
Written on July 11, 2008 at 10:20 pm, by James Fudge
Brain Zoo Studios wants you to know that its animation work will be showcased across the show floor at this year’s E3. For instance, fans of Alpha Protocol from Sega for the PC and next-gen consoles will be treated to a cinematic showcase produced by Brain Zoo Studios for the title. Pandemic titles Mercs 2: World in Flames and the all-new Destroy All Humans: Path of Furon cinematics are on display in respective publisher booths, all animated by Brain Zoo Studios.
Brain Zoo’s work on each these projects included working from a script and creating it from concept art, asset generation, visual style, art direction, motion capture and direction. Brain Zoo Studios recently lent its expertise to the Winx Club animated feature which released in Europe last December and was the creative force behind last year’s Lost Planet: Extreme Condition trailer.
Okay we get it, you’re busy and you do good work.
Capcom Unity on Lost Planet Movie
Written on July 9, 2008 at 3:43 pm, by James Fudge
It’s pretty funny when the Capcom community blog dishes on a Lost Planet movie like it’s an unsolved mystery to them. Like they don’t know if there’s a movie in the works or not. In a story with a title ending in a question mark called “Lost Planet on the Big Screen?,” the Capcom Unity blog draws attention to a recent interview (at the AX08 event) with David Hayter, better known as the voice of Solid Snake. In that interview Mr. Hayter spills the beans about his role in the Lost Planet movie.
For its part the Capcom Unity team said that “nothing is set in stone, but he’s clearly pretty deep in Lost Planet-lore–he even said “Vital Suit!” Winner!”
Will we see an announcement next week at E3? Stay tuned!

The multiplayer demo for this game set in the frozen wastelands of a far away planet gives players a taste of how the PlayStation 3 version of the game is going to look and play when it ships on Feb. 26.

This demo sports two of the four multiplayer modes: Elimination (standard deathmatch mode) and Team Elimination.
