Katamari Forever right now, but not forever

Namco Bandai Games America has released Katamari Forever on PS3. Katamari Forever promises the largest collection of stages, modes, songs, and cousins to date in a Katamari release. This includes remixed classic Katamari Damacy tunes, a brand-new storyline, multiple new visual effects and 1080p graphics as well.

Katamari Forever tasks players to roll up as many everyday objects as possible within a time limit set by the Prince’s father, the King of All Cosmos. As more objects are rolled up, your katamari becomes bigger, allowing you to pick up even larger items. Thumb tacks, sushi, cats, people, houses, sky scrapers and ocean liners – nothing is off limits. If your mom was in this game (and she might be, I haven’t played it) even she would not be off limits. In addition to all the rolling around, the Prince has been practicing his royal jumping abilities, and using the PS3’s SixAxis controls, the Prince is now able to hop over large objects that stand in his way.

Katamari Forever is rated “E” for everyone by the ESRB and carries a MSRP of $49.99.

The Wonderful End of the World Released

Independent development studio Dejobaan Games has released its 12th title, The Wonderful End of the World, for PC today.

In this interesting game that looks an awful lot like a knock-off of Katamari Damacy, your goal is simple enough — pick up anything you can, while you can. Why? Because, my friends, the world is about to come to a bitter, painful end. The world as we know it is going to be eaten up by a mythological demon with the head of a fish. You play as a puppet that absorbs everything it touches with the goal of picking up as many objects as you can before fate gets behind the wheel like a drunken Mel Gibson and runs over existence.

Unlike Mel Gibson, no one can take the keys away from a giant demon with a fish head, so you have to absorb as much of the world as you can in the hopes of rebuilding it later on. To that end, you take your puppet and grab everything you can, and as you collect the oddities of this wacky world you start to get bigger and bigger. At the start you”ll be able to pick up a small marble, but as you gather more and more objects you”ll be able to grab bigger items like skyscrapers and anything else that gets in your way.

The Wonderful End of the World promises 12 unique locations and thousands of treasures to gather before it’’s so long, humanity. Grab the demo and give it a shot — early indications are that it is a pretty exciting game.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
