Hinterland: Orc Lords Revealed

I’ll admit it - I’m excited about Tilted Mill’s Hinterland getting an extended retail release. Coming to retail through Got Game Entertainment, the strategy role-playing hybrid game is called Hinterland: Orc Lords. The core change from the Steam release seems to be the ability to play as the hero or the villain; how Tilted Mill applies this to the existing game framework is a different matter.

Hinterland: Orc Lords lets players build a town, populate it with different types of NPCs and build different types of structures to unlock new types of NPCs, create items, build up resources and more. The end goal is to keep the king off your ass while conquering a variety of enemy sites like keeps, mines, groves, etc. using a small group of characters.

A date for the game is to be announced, but you can learn more at www.Hinterland-Game.com. Hinterland: Orc Lords is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and will retail for $19.99.

Hinterland Available on Impulse

I’m in the tank for Hinterland - I love this game even though it can be an absolutely humiliating and brutal experience. My only caveat? I bought it via Steam. Luckily, for those that have not yet drank the kool-aid, there is an additional option to buy it elsewhere. If you are looking for some other place besides Steam to purchase Titled Mill’s Hinterland, then you may be happy to hear that Stardock’s Impulse now offers the Strategy RPOG for purchase ($19.99 USD) and download.

In case you didn’t read Troy S. Goodfellow’s excellent review, Hinterland is an action-RPG where you take on the role of a hero who must run and maintain a town, fending off raiders, building structures and hiring and firing a variety of professionals and heroes - all while dealing with the whims of a king who rewards or punishes you based on your success with a variety of quests.
