NERF 2: N-Strike Elite announced
Electronic Arts is working NERF 2: N-Strike Elite for the Wii - to be published under the EA Play casual games label sometime this fall. NERF 2: N-Strike Elite will deploy this fall, bundled with a newly designed blue NERF SWITCH SHOT EX-3 blaster and attachable decoder lens that will add a covert operation elements into shooting missions.
NERF 2: N-Strike Elite is a rail shooter style of gameplay that uses the Wii-remote snapped into the NERF SWITCH SHOT EX-3 blaster and the red reveal lens. Using the lens players will be able to detect enemy weak spots, solve puzzles and decode secret messages in between blasting enemies. They’ll do all this as one of four playable characters, each with their own unique customizable blasters and abilities. For those players who find themselves in a melee that requires back-up, NERF 2: N-Strike Elite will include two-player co-op, as well as an army of robots including B.O.B., the same recruiting robot from the first NERF N-Strike game.
The NERF 2: N-Strike Elite 3-in-1 video game and SWITCH SHOT EX-3 with scope toy bundle is being developed by EA Salt Lake and will launch this fall. For more information, visit nerf.ea.com.

Hasbro: power through partners at E3
Hasbro has more than a dozen of its popular toy and game properties coming to various video game platforms in the second half of this year. The company’s popular board games and toys will be become video games through licensing alliances with Electronic Arts, Activision, and Glu Mobile. The new wave of video games builds on the momentum achieved by EA in the past 18 months with its release of nearly 40 Hasbro-inspired titles across 16 brands and 13 platforms, several of which have held top sales rankings by platform. Additionally, through an extended licensing agreement with Performance Design Products (PDP), a new line of Hasbro-branded video game accessories will land at retail in 2009.
This summer will kick off with the launch of Activision’s TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN in June on the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 , Windows PC, PSP, and Nintendo DS . Glu Mobile will also release the game on a variety of mobile devices as well as a mini-application on the iPhone. EA will launch G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra on the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION3, Wii, PlayStation2, PSP, Nintendo DS and mobile devices in August.

Marvel Super Hero Squad details
THQ today formally announced Marvel Super Hero Squad, the first video game based on the animated series, The Super Hero Squad Show, scheduled to debut this fall on Cartoon Network. Marvel Super Hero Squad will mark the first title in THQ’s licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment, and is currently in development for Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP. The game will offer both multiplayer and single player action and adventure using some re-imagined versions of Marvel’s most popular heroes and Villains.
Set in the Marvel Universe, the Super Hero Squad is on a mission against Dr. Doom’s Lethal Legion of villains to recover the hidden Infinity Fractals; fragments of the all-powerful Infinity Sword. Each Infinity Fractal holds power and can give each character special abilities that could alter the game’s rules and playing field. The game offers 20 Marvel characters to mix and match including Captain America, Dr. Doom, Falcon, Hulk, Iron Man, Juggernaut, Ms. Marvel, Silver Surfer, Thing, Thor and Wolverine, to name a few. Players can jump into a battle arena against up to three opponents in Battle Mode, or choose to play through six campaigns based on the animated series in Adventure Mode.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Voice Talent Joins Game
Activision Publishing sent out a note this morning that it has signed the Transformers movie talent to reprise their roles for the upcoming video game, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, including the film’s leads Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox, who will reprise their starring roles in the game, and fan favorites Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, the voices of OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON from the original animated The game will feature the talents of Mark Ryan (Bumblebee), Jess Harnell (Ironhide), Charles Adler (Starscream) and Robert Foxworth (Ratchet). Of course, we hope that Activision’s newest Transformers game based on the films is at least a little less mediocre than the last series of games.
The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game is based on the upcoming live-action feature film from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures in association with Hasbro, which opens nationwide on June 24, 2009. The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game is currently in development by Luxoflux for the Xbox 360 and the PS3; the Windows PC version is being developed by Beenox Studios, the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions are being developed by Krome Studios; AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON-specific Nintendo DS versions are being developed by Vicarious Visions; and the PSP version is being developed by Savage Entertainment.

EA Confirms Upcoming GI Joe Game
Coming from the “About Damn Time” department, Electronic Arts finally confirmed this morning that, as a part of its exclusive licensing deal with Hasbro, it is currently deep in development of a new game based on the G.I. Joe toys and upcoming live-action movie. The game is scheduled to release around the same time as Paramount’s upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra movie, due to hit theaters August 7th. This will be the first time the G.I. Joe team has been seen on home consoles since the release of Capcom’s G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor on the NES back in 1992.

Hasbro Drops Scrabulous Lawsuit
According to an Associated Press report, Hasbro has decided to drop a lawsuit that it used to bully two Indian programmers earlier this year. Good for them.
Hasbro, which owns the rights to the classic word board game Scrabble (America’s good time game), sued the company over its copycat Facebook application Scrabulous. The lawsuit forced the programming duo (two brothers from Calcutta, India named Jayant and Rajat Agarwalla) who do business under the name RJ Softwares to take the application down, citing copyright infringement.
