Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince game released

The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game is in stores today bearing the EA Play Label. Available on a multitude of platforms for maximum impact, the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game allows players to experience a dash of the film based on J.K. Rowling’s sixth book in the Harry Potter series.

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, players return to Hogwarts to help Harry survive a sixth year as the wizard in training comes of age. Players will use gesture-based spell-casting as they explore the Hogwarts school grounds including the Astronomy Tower, Professor Slughorn’s Potions classroom, the Gryffindor common room, the Great Hall and more. For the first time players can move and cast spells simultaneously, allowing for fast paced wizard duels, catch the Golden Snitch as the Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, mix potions and more.

Developed by EA Bright Light, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game is available for the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Windows PC, Mac, and mobile devices. The Wii, PS3 system, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PC, and Mac versions are rated ‘E10+’ and the handheld versions are rated ‘E’ for Everyone by the ESRB.

EA reveals massive E3 line-up

Electronic Arts today revealed the games it will show off at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) June 2 - 4. The year’s lineup features sequels franchises, new intellectual property, and licensed titles across various platforms.

Highlights include Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Army of Two: The 40th Day, Brütal Legend, Dead Space Extraction, Dragon Age: Origins, Dante’s Inferno, G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Mass Effect 2, The Saboteur, MySims Agents, Need For Speed NITRO, Need for Speed SHIFT, Spore Hero, Spore Hero Arena, The Sims 3, Battlefield 1943, and Littlest Pet Shop Online.

EA Sports will be showcasing EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis, FIFA 10, Madden NFL 10, NCAA Football 10, NHL 10, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10, and Fight Night Round 4. EA Mobile will be showing off FIFA 10, The Sims 3, Mass Effect Galaxy, G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Command & Conquer Red Alert, and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Date Confirmed

In case you were biting your nails and finding yourself up late at night worrying about it, Electronic Arts and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game will be in stores across the world on June 30, 2009. That date is important because it almost coincides with the release of the latest Harry Potter film from Warner Bros. Pictures’ - based on J.K. Rowling’s sixth book in the Harry Potter series.

So fret no more. Developed by EA Bright Light in Guildford, England, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled for release in North America on June 30 for the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Windows PC, Macintosh and mobile devices.

Interactive Entertainment want to confirm to you, dear reader, that the video game based on the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released globally in the summer of 2009. The game will be released just as the film hits theaters so you can continue the experience somewhere that doesn’t smell like Urine, popcorn and regret (or is that just the kind of theater I frequent? You decide).

In the new game players journey back to Hogwarts to help Harry survive his sixth year at the venerable Wizards academy, engaging in duels, mixing potion , playing on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and following the storyline of the film to a dramatic climax to uncover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince. The game will be a test for EA who promised recently that it was done creating mediocre licensed games. Yeah, we will see EA, we will see.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled for release on the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 PS2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Windows PC, Macintosh and mobile devices.

EA’s Games Convention Line-Up

Like many other publishers, Electronic Arts is show its goods at the Leipzig Games Convention this week in Leipzig, Germany this week.

At its press conference scheduled tomorrow, EA plans to give presentations on FIFA 09, The Sims 3, SimAnimals, Boogie SuperStar, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Littlest Pet Shop, Monopoly, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Dragon Age: Origins, Need For Speed Undercover, and a sneak peak at RAGE from EA Partner, id Software.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Due This Fall

EA’s Casual Entertainment Label and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced jointly today that video games based on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released later this year to coincide with the Warner Bros. film based on J.K. Rowling’s sixth Harry Potter book.

“We believe that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game represents a milestone in the movie tie-in genre,” said Harvey Elliott, Head of EA’s UK based Bright Light Studio, where the Harry Potter franchise is being developed. “Building on the technological advancements of previous games in the series and with a particular focus on the unique control system of Nintendo’s Wii, the team here is working closely with the filmmakers to create an immersive interactive experience that captures the story, the action, the excitement and, above all, the fun of the film.”

“Working with EA, we look forward to offering fans a compelling Harry Potter video game, one which captures the thrilling storyline and high visual quality of the movie,” said Scott Johnson, Vice President, Business Development for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The adherence to the rich fiction is a trademark of this franchise and with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince fans will experience the most authentic and enjoyable game in the series to date.”

In the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince game, players return to Hogwarts to help Harry survive his sixth year at the wizard school. The game will feature wizard duels, the ability to mix and brew magical ingredients in Potions class, and fire up their broomsticks in Quidditch matches. According to EA, players may even get wrapped up in the drama of Ron’s romantic entanglements, as chronicled in both the book and the upcoming film.

Currently in development at EA’s Bright Light Studio, the team behind the worldwide success of the Harry Potter library of games, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled for release in time for the movie launch this fall for the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, DS, PC, Mac, mobile devices, and anything else they can possibly milk the franchise for.
