GTA IV Tops Time’s Top 10 Games of 2008
While Time’s list is certainly diverse (there are a couple of games you probably won’t find listed anywhere else), there are a couple of unsurprising choices for a mainstream media publication. Topping Time’s Top Ten List of Video Games For 2008 is Nico Bellic’s unhinged adventures in America, Grand Theft Auto IV, followed by Jonathon Blow’s Braid, Rock Band 2 and LittleBigPlanet.
I do not want to disparage the choices that Time has made for the year’s top ten games, but I cannot help but feel that quite a few excellent games were omitted for the sake of irreverence. Shippin’ Out: Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008
Tuesday is shipping out day for video games, and today’s offerings are very slim indeed. Today sees the release of Grand Theft Auto IV for the Games For Windows, which offers mouse / keyboard support, the possibility of mods, multiplayer and lots of graphical enhancements - just in case you didn’t get enough of the game earlier this year on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Also being released today is the latest Prince of Persia game from Ubisoft promising a flashier adventure starring the agile prince as he finds himself in a battle between the forces of darkness and light - that game is shipping for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version is on its way Dec. 9.
So what other delights can we expect to see on stores shelves today? Well there’s Tecmo’s action-adventure game SPRay, D3 Publisher’s Family Party: 30 Great Games for the Wii and the DS version of Microids’ classic adventure hit, Syberia.

GTA IV Weekend Planned
Rockstar Games and Microsoft are kicking off a Grand Theft Auto IV LIVE Weekend exclusively on Xbox LIVE beginning Friday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 28 in the United States and Canada. This special weekend will be open to Xbox LIVE Gold members of the Xbox LIVE community.
Gamers who register for Play & Win will automatically be entered into a drawing to win exclusive prize packages just for playing with friends on Xbox LIVE. Prize packages for Play & Win include select Rockstar gear and an entry into the Grand Prize Package drawing. The Grand Prize Package includes an Xbox 360 Elite console, a 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription card, as well as 4,000 Microsoft Points.
