GLU Mobile’s Super K.O. Boxing 2 now available
Glu Mobile has released a new boxing game that looks mighty familiar on mobile phones called Super K.O. Boxing 2. The game, which looks like a rip-off of Punchout!!, is available now on carriers worldwide and will be available on high-end handsets later this month. Super K.O. Boxing 2 is the follow-up to Glu’s 2006 game, Super K.O. Boxing, which has managed to sell over 1.6 million units to date.
Super K.O. Boxing 2 features new fighters, new types of moves to perform, multiple game modes, and a whole lot more.

Glu Mobile reveals Summer line-up
Glu Mobile revealed its lineup of games for summer 2009 for various mobile platforms including J2ME, BREW, Blackberry and Windows Mobile. The titles launching in Summer 2009 include Stranded: Mysteries of Time, 99 Ninjas, Vegas Hustler and Firefighters: City Rescue.
Stranded: Mysteries of Time (available beginning July 2009) is an adventure game where players travel through time to save the future from a horrible viral outbreak. 99 Ninjas (available beginning July 2009) is a beat ‘em up where players go on a quest of vengeance using amazing ninja abilities and skills to get to the ultimate opponent, the evil Shan-Pu. Vegas Hustler (available beginning July 2009) promises players the life of a hustler in Las Vegas, trying to be the best at blackjack, roulette, and craps. Finally, there’s Firefighters: City Rescue (available beginning August 2009), an arcade-action game that lets players join the Fire Department to save the dangerous town of Emberville from destruction.

Glue Mobile secures top Activision titles
Glu Mobile announced plans to release a Modern Warfare 2 mobile game, published as part of the company’s expanded partnership with Activision Publishing, . The mobile title will be available in Q4 2009 and will be published worldwide for carriers and application stores that support Android, Blackberry, BREW, J2ME and Windows Mobile.
Glu did not disclose much about the game, save that they love Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 and will build upon what it delivers later this year.
The company also announced plans to release some other high profile Activision-related mobile games later this year. Games in the works for various mobile platforms include Crash Mutant Island (Q3 2009) Blur, Guitar Hero 5 and Tony Hawk: RIDE - available in Q4 2009. The titles will be published worldwide for carriers and application stores that support Android, Blackberry, BREW, J2ME and Windows Mobile.

Playing with Transformers on iPhone
Glu Mobile has released TRANSFORMERS CyberToy for iPhone and iPod Touch on the iTunes App Store. the App Store. Based on characters from the TRANSFORMERS toy line and movie series, this application is available worldwide for an introductory price of $0.99 from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch.
TRANSFORMERS CyberToy isn’t really a game, but more like a virtual action figure. It allows players to transform characters from vehicle to robot by utilizing the touch screen to interact with their favorite TRANSFORMERS in a virtual environment.
In Action Figure Mode users choose different poses, play sounds and animations, and deploy their signature weapons. In Challenge Mode users must change from robot to vehicle and back as quickly as possible by a series of taps, touches, shakes and tilts. Finally, there’s a View Tech Specs section that will offer details of on various Transformers including OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, MEGATRON and STARSCREAM. for now it only offers some data on BUMBLEBEE.

Hasbro: power through partners at E3
Hasbro has more than a dozen of its popular toy and game properties coming to various video game platforms in the second half of this year. The company’s popular board games and toys will be become video games through licensing alliances with Electronic Arts, Activision, and Glu Mobile. The new wave of video games builds on the momentum achieved by EA in the past 18 months with its release of nearly 40 Hasbro-inspired titles across 16 brands and 13 platforms, several of which have held top sales rankings by platform. Additionally, through an extended licensing agreement with Performance Design Products (PDP), a new line of Hasbro-branded video game accessories will land at retail in 2009.
This summer will kick off with the launch of Activision’s TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN in June on the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 , Windows PC, PSP, and Nintendo DS . Glu Mobile will also release the game on a variety of mobile devices as well as a mini-application on the iPhone. EA will launch G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra on the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION3, Wii, PlayStation2, PSP, Nintendo DS and mobile devices in August.

Former Glu Mobile exec joins Turbine
Today Turbine announced the appointment of a new Vice President of Corporate and Business Development - former Glu mobile executive Nate Jones. Jones will be charged with overseeing worldwide content and licensing partnerships, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions for the MMO company based in Westwood, Massachusetts and California.
In his previous job, Jones was Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Glu Mobile, where he drove the acquisitions of Mig and Superscape as well as strategic initiatives focused on the iPhone and other gaming platforms. Prior to that gig, Jones was a Vice President at Lazard, a financial advisory firm, where he focused on technology and media mergers and acquisitions and advised both established and emerging organizations in the video games industry including Microsoft, EA, Jagex and Major League Gaming.
Glu Secures COD: World At War Rights
Glu Mobile will extend its exclusive worldwide partnership with Activision to include Call of Duty: World at War for mobile phones. The Glu mobile version of Call of Duty: World at War will be released on major wireless carriers around the world, though a specific date was not revealed at press time. Details beyond the fact that Glu will develop and publish the game were not made available.
Glu’s previous Call of Duty game, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is currently the fourth most popular game on their web site.
