Console Classix re-launches
File this one under “sounds questionably legal,” but Console Classix, a site dedicated to providing classic gaming to the masses, has re-launched with an improved user interface, additional video game platforms supported and a library of more than 3,000 classic console games. This library includes games for the Sega Genesis, NES, Super Nintendo, ColecoVision, Atari 2600, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. A free version of Console Classix is now available, which includes access to hundreds of Nintendo (NES), Atari 2600, and ColecoVision games.
To access the additional classic console video games you’ll have to pay a subscription fees of $5.99 per month or $59.99 annually.

Twenty years of Genesis: pick the next XBLA release
Sega is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the SEGA Genesis, a game system that I’ll readily admit is near and dear to my heart, by putting giving Xbox Live Arcade fans the power to choose the next game to be released on the service.
By visiting genesispoll.com, fans can pick from one of six Genesis classics between August 14th and August 21st. Those classics include Earthworm Jim, Golden Axe II, Shining Force II, Revenge of Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Toejam & Earl. As of this writing Toejam & Earl is in the lead.
The results will be announced on Saturday, August 22 at genesispoll.com. My only question: where is Phantasy Star IV?

Golden Axe brings the fight to iPhone
SEGA of America has released the Sega Master System, Genesis and Arcade hit, Golden Axe, on iPhone and iPod Touch on the iTunes Apps Store. Available for $4.99, Golden Axe invites players to choose one of three heroes to take on some classic action. Play as a powerful Fighter, a mighty Amazon, or a rugged Dwarf - each with a score to settle with the evil Death Adder who has captured the king and his daughter and holds them captive in their castle. Filled with battles in dark castles, on the back of a giant turtle and even on the wings of an enchanted eagle as well as unique magic attacks for each character, Golden Axe brings players the classic title using the iPhone/iPod Touch technology. As a fan bonus, the iPhone/iPod touch version of Golden Axe offers two extra levels of the game that weren’t found in the arcade version. Look for it on the iTunes App store today.
