Emergent signs Gamebryo deal with THQ

gamebryo Emergent signs Gamebryo deal with THQ industryEmergent Game Technologies and THQ have signed a master licensing agreement that gives the publisher use of Emergent’s development products for developing games on multiple platforms - including Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PS3 and PC. The deal gives THQ’s internal development studios and developer partners access to the Gamebryo and Gamebryo LightSpeed technologies.

Emergent says that the deal will help THQ lower the costs associated with creating high quality assets, by building tech for multiple platforms and developing title-specific technologies. Gamebryo and LightSpeed offer open frameworks that can enable studios to plug in internally and externally created technology. To date, Gamebryo has been used in more than 250 shipped games titles from downloadable casual games to first-person shooters to massively multiplayer online games. Another 150 titles are currently in development.

What specific games THQ will use this technology was not disclosed but Gamebryo has proven to be a pretty stable game engine so far. You can learn more about it by visiting www.emergent.net.
