Free-to-Play DDO Unlimited gets first major update

Turbine has launched the first major content update for Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited (DDO Unlimited) since it went to free to play earlier this year. The new update offers several new features, a new Epic Difficulty setting, as well as over 100 new items to purchase in the DDO Store

In addition, Turbine has released a new DDO video, which gives a glimpse into the Vale of Twilight adventure pack, now available for purchase in the DDO store. The video can be found after the jump.

The update includes a new adventure pack called Path of Inspiration, a new Veteran Status system that rewards who by earn 1000 favor (unlocks the ability to create characters which enter the game at level four), a new Epic Difficulty setting and new DDO Store goods like 32-point build characters, a size upgrade to the shared account bank, new hair styles, Reincarnation items and more. Dragonica Online launching this week

THQ*ICE announced that Thursday, October 15th marks the official grand opening for its free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, Dragonica Online. As part of the official game launch, THQ*ICE is hosting a series of events and contests for all registered players.

These events include Emporia War Challenge (a guild-versus-guild event with THQ*ICE’s official guild as a target), On Guard for Game Cards (players who log in are entered for a chance to win some a collectible Dragonica Online Game Card; Oct. 15 - 22), Increased Rates (Oct. 15 and October 18 THQ*ICE will be increasing the size and rates of gold drops and increased XP gain), Around the World in 80 Hours (a screenshot contest), new dungeon content and a loot hunt.

Runes of Magic game cards now at Target

Pre-paid game cards for Frogster’s free-to-play MMO Runes of Magic will soon be available at Target stores nationwide. The cards will provide instant access to in-game credits in Runes of Magic. The game cards started shipping to Target stores on October 1st.

Runes of Magic Game Cards come in $20 increments and can be used in the game’s diamond shop to purchase mounts or in-game enhancements. The Target Game Card joins the recently announced Zeevex card program which will make Runes of Magic’s in-game currency available at 7-Eleven stores. Frogster continues to look for additional ways to support the community with alternative payment methods, survey credits and other opportunities that open up the game’s paid enhancements to the free user base, the company said.

True Games announced today that it has formed an External Development Division at its Irvine Headquarters where it is currently seeking to acquire new video game content to operate on its TrueTech online game platform. The company has put a call out to all developers and publishers who have new, original and/or licensed online video game content that can be operated within the micro-transaction model it specializes in.

The company is looking for all types of online video game content including role-playing, strategy, racing, first-person shooter, sports, action, action/adventure, simulation, fighting and more. Any
product the company will consider will need to be developed for, or have the ability to easily be adapted to, the company’s micro-transaction business model which provides games that are free to
download and play (while offering players the ability to purchase additional items via micro-transactions).

DDO Unlimited Sorrowdusk Isle adventure pack released

Turbine has released a new Adventure Pack for Dungeons & Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited (DDO Unlimited) called Sorrowdusk Isle. The new Sorrowdusk Isle adventure pack, which is now available to purchase in the DDO Store is designed for players level 6 - 10.

Players will take up a series of adventures in the dangerous jungle of Sorrowdusk Isle battling trolls, ogres, undead, and more! Buy Sorrowdusk Isle now by visiting the DDO Store - for characters level 6 to 10. The ogre Bruku, Elder of the Grey Moon Clan, seeks heroes to overcome the evils of Sorrowdusk Isle and follow the clues that lead to the Cult of the Six. All this takes place acorss hand-crafted adventures and 34 wilderness quests.

Atlantica Online expanding to Thailand, Russia

Ndoors Interactive’s free-to-play MMORPG, Atlantica Online has entered into closed beta in Thailand. The game will be published by top Asian online game provider Asiasoft, who did a massive localization process on the game prior to the beta’s launch. Additionally, Ndoors has finalized a publishing agreement with Enova, a publishing company in Russia, to bring Atlantica Online to the Russian market. Russia will be next in entering closed beta, as Thailand has recently ended the closed beta phase and has entered open beta. Atlantica Online has successfully expanded from Korea into North America, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, and recently kicked off its European expansion in Germany.

Atlantica Online is a strategic turn-based MMORPG that combines combat with character/party development and city/country management.
