Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection in Nov.
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection will be released on November 10th in North America, in time for the holidays. A comprehensive compilation of all the content created within the title’s history, this new entry to the FINAL FANTASY XI catalog will be priced at $19.99 and available as a retail product for both Windows PC and Xbox 360, and as a PC download through select digital content distributors.
Described as a “one-size-fits-all upgrade” for current players, as well as an entry level package for new players, this new compilation includes the four previously released expansion packs – Rise of the ZilarT, Chains of Promathia, TreasureS of Aht Urhgan, and Wings of the Goddess – as well as the three add-on scenarios released in 2009: A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Bestowing, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat - Evil in Small Doses and A Shantotto Ascension - The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born. The third add-on scenario, A Shantotto Ascension, will officially launch later this year.

Final Fantasy XI Players’ Collection item #2 pre-sale begins
Square Enix announced today that the second product in the Final Fantasy XI Players’ Collection will begin pre-sales on Sept. 24, 2009 and run through Nov. 24, 2009. The new accessory from the Square Enix’s MMORPG world will retail for a whopping $106.99 USD and will be available on the Square Enix shop. This reminds me of John Teti’s post from Japan on fan-made Manga.
So what is it? Square Enix describes it as a new line of genuine, pure silver Dog Tags. Emblazoned with the flag of a player’s allegiance, each tag can be engraved with a character’s name and World, to create a completely personalized and unique accessory, celebrating a player’s time and adventures in the game world of Vana’diel. These special items are available for order for one month only at the official Square Enix Online Merchandise Store. I supposes this is the perfect gift for the Final Fantasy XI Online super fan..

Final Fantasy XIV coming to Windows
Final Fantasy XIV Online was announced at Sony’s E3 press conference this week, and Square Enix has sent along a tiny bit more data about the next MMO game set in the Final Fantasy universe. For one, the game is not exactly exclusive to the PS3 - it will also see a simultaneous global release on the PC at the same time PS3 owners get their hands on it. Square Enix also revealed that the game will feature Japanese, English, French and German language support out of the box, which means it will be ready for Europe, Japan and North America all at the same time. The game still has a tentative date of “2010.”
Hiromichi Tanaka (FINAL FANTASY I, II, III, XI) will produce, Nobuaki Komoto (FINAL FANTASY IX, XI) will direct, Akihiko Yoshida (Vagrant Story, FINAL FANTASY XII) will handle art direction and the music is being created by Nobuo Uematsu of SMILE PLEASE (FINAL FANTASY series).
The adventure begins anew in the vast realm of Eorzea in 2010 - hopefully we’ll know more about this new realm and the game soon. In the interim, camp the web site at www.finalfantasyxiv.com for new information as it is released. PC requirements are to be announced.

FFXI Online Woes Inspire Illinois Law
What happens when you can’t cancel your MMO account because the company handling it doesn’t make the process easy? Usually nothing. But when you are an Alderman in Springfield, Illinois and you are best friends with a state representative, you get shit done.
And shit certainly got done for Frank and Cinda Edwards, whose son Alex grew tired of Final Fantasy XI Online and wanted to cancel his account. When his parents went to cancel the account they come to the realization that there was no way to do so in the game and no way to get hold of anyone within the company without doing a lot of ridiculous leg work.
