KFC’s 200 Games a Day Giveaway
KFC, EA SPORTS, the NFL, and NFL PLAYERS have teamed up to offer gamers an amazing giveaway: the 200 Games a Day Giveaway. A total of 6,000 Madden NFL 10 games will be given away in 30 days, with another 250 being given away in the next 30 days. To win, KFC has introduced the $5 Madden NFL Box which offers a full meal and a drink for $5. The purchase includes several different options on how to score free Madden NFL 10 games.
The meal includes a choice of one of six of your KFC favorites, a side item and a 32-ounce drink in a Madden NFL cup, all for only $5 (choice of two pieces of Kentucky Grilled Chicken, three Original Recipe Strips, a Twister Sandwich, five Hot Wings, five Honey BBQ Wings or two pieces of Original Recipe Chicken, along with a side item and a drink in the Madden NFL Cup.). The four cups feature NFL players Calvin Johnson, Jr., Philip Rivers, DeMarcus Ware and Brian Westbrook.

Madden NFL Arcade announced
Electronic Arts announced today an all new way to play Madden NFL with Madden NFL Arcade - a pick-up-and-play, 5-on-5 football game from EA Tiburon. Madden NFL Arcade is for both casual and diehard NFL fans, featuring a unique art style, 32 NFL teams and distinctive home stadiums, and gameplay that consist of four downs to march 60 yards - no penalties or field goals allowed! The first team to 30 wins.
Madden NFL Arcade allows up to four players to play co-op on a single console. You can also take on other players online in head-to-head matches and track your performance via interactive leaderboards. Madden NFL Arcade will also provide a host of achievements and trophies to boost your gamer score.
Madden NFL Arcade will be available as a download on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Store for 1200 MS Points and $14.99 respectively, just in time for the holidays in December.
First week sell through of FIFA 10 in Europe: 1.7 million units
Electronic Arts announced that FIFA 10 saw 1.7 million copies sold through at European retail in the first week. EA says that these numbers make it the fastest selling sports game ever and EA’s biggest European launch in history. EA added that, since launch, more than 10 million gaming sessions have been played online, with over 155,000 gamers playing online simultaneously during peak playing hours.
“We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game,” said Peter Moore, President of EA SPORTS. “We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.”
FIFA 10 will be in stores throughout North America on October 20, 2009.
NBA showdown: NBA Live 10 and NBA 2K10 in stores
2K Sports’ NBA 2K10 is available as a regular vanilla release and a limited-edition NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition that comes packaged in a specially designed 2K Sports locker configured for game storage, with exclusive items featuring 2009 NBA Finals MVP and cover athlete for NBA 2K10, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. This season, NBA 2K10 promises realistic, stylistic, NBA branded gameplay with new features like a revamped career mode, training mode, franchise mode, and support for social features. Developed by 2K Sports’ Visual Concepts studio, NBA 2K10 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PSP. A windows version ships Oct. 12 and a Wii version will be released Oct. 19.
EA Sports’ entry, NBA LIVE 10 is available PS3, PSP and Xbox 360. Developed by EA Canada, NBA LIVE 10 promises a higher level of user control giving them command of dribbling, passing, shooting and driving the lane.
In addition to gameplay, visuals and in-game presentation have also received an overhaul in NBA LIVE 10. NBA LIVE 10 also introduces a premium service called Dynamic Season to this year’s seminal release. Dynamic Season allows users to play along with the regular season as it happens. Dynamic Season will update your game daily with the real results, injuries, statistics, trades and tendencies that happen in the NBA. As users play each game, their results are merged with the real NBA season, giving players the opportunity to alter reality and make their own 2010 NBA Finals.
Both games are available at retail this week.
FIFA Interactive World Cup kicks off this week
FIFA, Electronic Arts and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced the new season of the FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC), a season-long tournament mirroring the real world of soccer with competitors from all around the world participating in the EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 10 on PlayStation 3.
This year marks the sixth FIWC season, which will kick off today inside EA SPORTS FIFA Soccer 10. Players will be able to compete for their spot in the Grand Final at one of 10 FIWC Live Qualifier Events across the globe, taking place in Australia, Brazil, Denmark, France, Italy, Japan, Poland, Russia, South Africa and the UK, or by playing online.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, the online competition of the FIWC via PlayStation Network will be split into two seasons. Season one starts with the launch of FIFA Soccer 10 on October 2 in Europe and concludes on December 18, 2009. The ten best players of season one from across the FIFA confederations will go through to the Grand Final, which will take place at Port Olympic in Barcelona on May 1, 2010. Players who didn’t make it during season one have another shot at their spot in the Grand Final in season two, which kicks off on January 4, 2010 and concludes on March 31, 2010. Registration for participating in the online leg of the FIWC 10 tournament will take place directly inside the retail version of FIFA Soccer 10 on PS3 from October 2 across Europe and Asia and from October 20 in North America.
EA Sports teams with Toy Island for sports toys
A new line of EA SPORTS branded sports equipment created by Toy Island will be in stores and available for purchase this fall, if you care for such things. Designed with youngsters in mind (ages 5 and up), Toy Island has begun rolling out the Sweet Spot Sports, Voice Command and Sure Shot lineup of EA SPORTS-branded products. All products will be on shelves by early October and include Sweet Spot Football, Sweet Spot Baseball with Bat, Sweet Spot Hockey Stick and Puck, and Sweet Spot Basketball and Hoop. Those products will retail for $14.99-$19.99 USD. The Sweet Spot Sports line of products comes with special electronic features that emit an audio reward when a user hits or holds the ball in the right spot, which hypothetically helps improve a youngster’s accuracy and hand-eye coordination.
The Voice Command and Sure Shot product lines, which have MSRPs between $69.99-$79.99, feature interactive training tools with instructional coaching to help athletes ages 5 and up hone their techniques in a particular sport. These products include the Voice Command Pitching Machine, Voice Command Quarterback, Sure Shot Basketball, and Sure Shot Hockey and Sure Shot Soccer combo (Available Exclusively at Target Stores).
NHL 10, NHL 2K10 in stores
Two hockey games are in now in stores vying for your love, affection, attention and game buying dollars. EA’s NHL 10 and 2k Sports’ NHL 2K10 are available in North America now for various platforms. NHL 10 is available for PS3 and Xbox 360, while NHL 2K10 is available for Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2.
Featuring 2009 Hart Memorial Trophy and Lester B. Pearson Award winner Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals as its cover athlete and spokesman, NHL 2K10 promises fast-paced action and fun of the NHL without actually getting your teeth knocked down your throat.
Catering to both die-hard NHL fans and casual players, NHL 2K10 offers pick-up-and-shoot controls, authentic gameplay, all the teams and players from the NHL and variety of on- and off-line multiplayer modes.
