Hudson Entertainment’s Bomberman Blitz debuts on the Nintendo DSi today for 500 points. Bomberman Blitz allows gamers to relive the classic Bomberman flavor on DSi. Players have the ability to play up to 8 players at home or online through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, battle in 10 unique locations, and the ability to control the game using the DSi’s dual screens. All the power-ups that affect bombs, strengthen blast range, running and much more are also in the mix. Finally the game offers a new training mode that allows newcomers to learn the Bomberman gameplay and get right in on the action.

This week’s Nintendo downloads
This week’s downloads on the Nintendo Wii and DSi mix old school action RPG with the popular mascot of Japan’s NHK television station. Games hitting WiiWare this week include LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias (1,000 Points), the sequel to Frontier’s popular Wii title; and Hudson Entertainment’s action arcade game, Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem (500 Points). The Virtual Console gets the classic Tecmo NES game Rygar (600 Points) - which I’m pretty excited about for some reason.
Nintendo DSiWare is all about Domo, the popular mascot of Japan’s NHK television station. Five games for 200 DSi Points each are being released including Crash-Course Domo, Hard-Hat Domo, Pro-Putt Domo, Rock-n-Roll Domo, and White-Water Domo. As you can imagine Domo will be pretty banged up after doing all these activities so try to be gentle.

Sony reveals minis for PSP: small games with a big crunch
Everybody wants to be the iPod Touch or the iPhone. Nintendo tried to get in on the action with DSiWare for the DSi and now Sony makes its play with a new service that will deliver small, bite-sized games to the PSP Go.
At its Gamescom press event in Cologne, Germany, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed minis, a new offering on the PlayStation Store that gives players a range of all-new downloadable games for PSP. Only available via digital distribution, minis will have a 100MB size limit, ensuring they are quick and easy to download to either the upcoming PSP Go or older PSP units. The new minis section will be available on PlayStation Store on October 1 in Europe/ PAL territories and in North America, to coincide with the launch of PSP Go.
Fifteen games will be available at launch across various genres including arcade games, racers, parlor games and more. SCE hopes to up that number to around 50 by the end of this year. These minis will come from developers of all stripes and sizes including Gameshastra, HoneySlug, Creat, and Subatomic Studios. Bigger publishers like EA want to get in on the action too; Electronic Arts is already developing a number of games including Tetris and Sudoku, and more.
We’re extremely interested to see how good these games will be and whether or not they will have the power to excite a PSP user base that doesn’t always get much to be excited about.
Flipnote Studio DSi app now available
Nintendo has finally released Flipnote Studio, a free app for the Nintendo DSi, via its DSiWare storefront (DSi Shop). Flipnote Studio gives users simple tools that let them draw and save a series of images to create an animation like a flipbook. Flipnote Studio makes it easy for anyone to jump in and create animations, regardless of their artistic abilities - even someone who is capable of only drawing stick figures (Yahtzee) will find this tool easy to use and enjoy.
