The top selling game on Steam was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for the week of Nov. 14, 2009, but over on Direct2Drive where it wasn’t available, various versions of Dragon Age: Origins were selling like hotcakes - whatever that means. I mean, who are the people buying and selling hotcakes and why are they so f**king popular?
Dragon Age is doing pretty well on Steam, Direct2Drive and even on Stardock’s Impulse. 2K Games’ Borderlands is in a respectable position as well, followed by the wonderful indie RPG Torchlight - which doesn’t seem to be available on Impulse for some reason. Come on Stardock, this game is awesome. Complete top ten charts, without any actual sales numbers, below. Sure it’s mostly anecdotal, but it’s fun to look at top ten lists, right?

Osmos now available on Steam and Direct2Drive
IGF nominated indie game Osmos is now available via Steam and Direct2Drive, according to developer Hemisphere Games. Osmos is a clever little game where Osmos that takes the principals of osmosis and implements into a game where size matters and growth is paramount to survival. Playing as a mote (a cell) that absorbs other motes to get bigger, and as you grow in mass you can consume bigger motes. There are other mechanics at play too like gravitanional pulls from organisms that are planet-like and a mechanic to repel around the crowded map to avoid being absorbed. I could talk about it more but seeing it in action is much more revaling. Check out the video below:

Aztaka Released
Indie RPG adventure game Aztaka has been released and is now available on Direct2Drive. Developed by Citeremis, Aztaka is an adventure RPG inspired by Aztec legends and myths. The game follows the adventures of Huitzilo, heir of the Sun God, who finds himself caught in the middle of a war between humankind and the gods. I’d imagine that the deck has been stacked in this war, but go figure.
The game combines inventory and skill management with light RPG elements, adventure style puzzles, a 2D art style and simple action. A playable demo is available here but by the time you read this it may no longer be available - get it while you can, if you can.

Guild Wars: 6 Million Strong
NCsoft has sold 6 million units of its popular online focused action RPG franchise, Guild Wars, to date. That includes all the expansions that have been released as well. The game launched in 2005. Of all of NCsoft’s games, Guild Wars has proven to be the most successful in North America. The game will turn 4 years old on April 28.
On a related note NCsoft’s games are now available for purchase on Steam. Games like Guild Wars (and all the expansions), Lineage 1 and Lineage II, City of Heroes and more can now be purchased via Valve’s digital distribution channel. NCsoft also announced that the MMO Aion: The Tower of Eternity will be available on Steam it is released in the United States and Europe this fall.
Of course, if you are not a fan of Steam you can still buy these games at retail, directly from the company, or at other digital distribution channels like Direct2Drive.
The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
