Demon’s Souls unleashed at retail

Atlus U.S.A.’s Demon’s Souls, the action RPG developed by From Software, is now in stores around the country and the servers, which were disabled after the press was done last week, should now be fully operational. In Demon’s Souls players can team up with other players, fight them, or leave them messages to warn them or lie to them thanks to an innovative always connected multiplayer system.

But don’t take my word for it - read Gus Mastrapa’s review. To say he liked it a lot would be an understatement.

Capcom’s Spyborgs now available on Wii

Capcom’s Spyborgs has shipped to retail stores in North America today. Spyborgs combines a sci-fi setting with action, 2-player co-op, multi-stage bosses, and what Capcom calls “old-school beat em’ up feel” featuring robots.

Spyborgs is rated by the ESRB as Teen and will be available this week on store shelves in North America for $39.99 or available now through online retailers and the Capcom E-store at shop.capcom.com.

In Spyborgs you take control of a cybernetically-enhanced hero who is hot on the trail of a traitor who has tried to destroy the super group you belong to. Players will be hot on the trail of this traitor, chasing him and his cohorts down in over 35 stages featuring epic boss battles and swarms of enemies that only a team of two can defeat. Yes, co-op is an integral part of the game.

Lost Planet 2 co-op demo coming to Xbox Live next week

Capcom will commemorate the opening day of GamesCom in Cologne, Germany (August 19) by releasing the cooperative demo for Lost Planet 2. This is the same demo that has been shown off at events such as 3, Comic-Con and soon - GamesCom. Xbox Live Gold members will have first crack at the demo on August 19, while Silver level members will be able to take part on August 26.

Players will be able to go up against the enormous G-Type Salamander Akrid boss in online co-operative shoot outs using a number of weapons scattered through out the arena. Squads of up to four players will face off against the huge monster in an attempt to bring it down using whatever tactics work best:
shearing off its legs, being swallowed and fighting from the inside, using beam and projectile weapons and several Vital Suit robotic combat units.

The demo is a brief glimpse into the world of Lost Planet 2, highlighting the range of weaponry available to players while showing off the high definition graphical capabilities of MT Framework 2.0, the latest version of Capcom’s proprietary 3D game engine. The first generation of MT Framework powered Capcom games like Dead Rising, the original Lost Planet and Devil May Cry 4, while an updated 1.5 version made possible the visuals of Resident Evil 5.

Look for the demo next week.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
