Warhammer Online invades Ace of Cakes tonight
Tonight (August 27) on Food Networks Ace of Cake’s Chef Duff will be showing off a pretty amazing cake he and his team helped create for Mythic’s popular MMORPG, Warhammer Online. The cake, shown below, is modeled after a familiar Warhammer Online creature - the Squig. The cake was part of Warhammer Online’s Baltimore Games Day booth earlier this year and was well received by everyone that saw it first hand - as you’ll see in tonight’s episode. Interestingly, Duff calls the Squig the best cake he’s made on the show. In a recent interview with USA Today Chef Duff said as much:
“It’s coming up. We made a cake of a monster called Squig from a video game called Warhammer for a video-game convention. This thing was about the size of large sheepdog. It was gigantic. It was a humongous cake balanced on two legs.”
The show will debut tonight at 10 PM EST on Food Network. Click on the pciture below to see it now:

Personal Trainer: Cooking for Nintendo DS Released
Just in time for Thanksgiving, Nintendo has released Personal Trainer: Cooking for Nintendo DS. The program contains more than 240 dishes from dozens of countries around the world. The DS Chef, an electronic cooking instructor, walks users through each step to make sure every dish comes out perfect and delicious. They’d better or that slop will hit the wall.
Personal Trainer: Cooking includes videos of various cooking techniques, such as how to properly julienne vegetables. The touch screen interface helps users check ingredients on an electronic shopping list they can take to the grocery store. It also lets them search recipes based on ingredients, number of calories or cooking time. When a user’s hands are too covered in the business of cooking to use the touch screen, the voice-recognition feature comes in handy: Just tell the DS Chef to move on to the next step or repeat the last one.
While this product won’t appeal to gamers it will be embraced by casual consumers who need little help in the kitchen or need a sort of food organizer they can refer to. Look for Personal Trainer: Cooking for Nintendo DS in stores this week.

Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag
With more cooking puns than Emeril Live!, Majesco Entertainment announced details about Cooking Mama World Kitchen for Wii. Developed by Cooking Mama Limited, the latest installment in the light-hearted cooking mini-game mash-up is bringing new recipes, modes and mini-games to the Wiiin time for Christmas. See, I made it through the entire paragraph without using stupid cooking gag. This is serious business, my friends.
Besides getting a 3D facelift, Mama gets more refined Wii Remote support, with the motion sensing controller getting top billing as the player’s numero uno utensil.
Using the Wii Remote, players will have to waggle, chop, grate, slice, stir and roll their culinary creations from start to finish. Other elements, like being able to make a save or two using Mamma’s apron to catch food that might end up decorating the floor and new rhythm and music elements should make this new game a bit more refined than previous releases in the series.
One should expect to hear more about the game during the E3 Media and Business Summit next month in Los Angeles.
