The Dark Void Tesla Roadster Giveaway

Capcom and Tesla Motors have partnered to bring gamers the Dark Void Tesla Roadster Giveaway, a sweepstake which began on Monday at an exclusive event at the flagship Tesla Motors showroom in Silicon Valley. The giveaway invites everyone to visit Capcom’s official Dark Void site to enter for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas to test drive a Roadster, as well as the Grand Prize: their very own Roadster. Nice - even if you don’t give a damn about Dark Void. I mean come on, it’s a freaking car!

The Dark Void Tesla Roadster Giveaway is the first time that Tesla Motors has partnered with another company to give away a Roadster, the electric sports car that’s is allegedly faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo and greener than a Toyota Prius. To celebrate the launch of the sweepstakes and promote Capcom’s action-adventure game Dark Void, Capcom held a test drive event Monday that allowed the media and San Francisco Bay Area members of Capcom-Unity.com to experience both the car and the game. We were not involved in that chicanery for the record. Sign up for the contest at www.darkvoidgame.com/tesla/.

Dark Void is a sci-fi action-adventure game that combines aerial combat and ground-based third-person combat against filthy aliens. Set in a parallel universe called The Void, players take on the role of Will, a pilot dropped into the mysterious Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival, joining forces with a rebel human group called The Survivors. Trapped in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth.

In the underworld of Neo Steam lies Demon’s Souls

Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent, Atlus Online’s fantasy-steampunk massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is releasing its menacing demons, digging deep into the darkness of the world below the shattered continent, for a map that can only be reached by higher-level players. To coincide with the reveal of the Underworld, Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent is hosting a drawing, through purchases of Atlus Crowns between Oct. 2 - Oct. 9, 2009, to win the PlayStation 3 RPG Demon’s Souls.

The Underworld opens up another high-level map for players who have achieved level 91 status or higher. Located far beneath the worlds of Chrysalis, this new area can be accessed from a hidden entrance beneath the twisted roots of the great Mother Tree on the continent in the Taxn Alliance, the third and most neutral world of Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent. TPlayers from the nations of Rogwel and Elerd are invited to seek the elusive doorway to darkness.

Tales of Monkey Island Designer for the Day winner announced

Telltale Games has announced that Liz Johnston of British Columbia, Canada is the winner of the Tales of Monkey Island Designer for the Day contest. The worldwide contest attracted more than 4,400 entries and gave fans the chance to write a line of dialogue for the fourth game of the five month long Tales of Monkey Island episodic series.

Given the set up of accusing Monkey Island lead character Guybrush Threepwood of wrongdoing, Liz wrote “He dug up my perfectly good X!” Now we’re all left to wonder how this could possibly get worked into a game scenario. Funny stuff.

“I’ve been a fan of the Monkey Island series and Telltale for a long time now, and it’s an honor to have my line chosen,” said Johnston. “The guys behind the game at Telltale love fan involvement, and I think it’s very cool that I’ll be hearing my line so quickly because the games are developed episodically.”

As part of the prize package, Liz was flown to this year’s Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle earlier this month where she was officially announced as the contest’s winner during Telltale’s annual Make a Scene panel. Liz also met with the Telltale’s design director Dave Grossman, Tales of Monkey Island co-lead designer Mark Darin, and the voice of Guybrush Threepwood himself, Dominic Armato, to discuss how Guybrush will respond to this heinous accusation.

The first two of the five Tales of Monkey Island episodes are currently available, with the third chapter releasing Tuesday, September 29. The full series can be purchased for $34.95 on PC at www.telltalegames.com and the WiiWare games are available from the Wii Shop Channel.

Sega’s double dose of Bayonetta contests

SEGA of America has launched “Bayonetta Re-Envisioned,” a user-generated art contest at WizardUniverse.com centered on the heroine of SEGA’s upcoming Bayonetta video game. After a month and more than 100 submissions, Wizard and SEGA selected their favorite entries which are now posted at wizarduniverse.com for fans to vote on. While the final decision will be determined by PlatinumGames, the developers of the game, the votes will be used to assist the judges in determining the Grand Prize winner, as well as the top 10 runners-up, who will each be awarded with an autographed copy of the game. The winners will be announced in October, 2009.

Sega also announced that Men’s lifestyle magazine and many people’s favorite form of softcore porn, Maxim, is also hosting a contest. The point of the contest is to find a real life version of the game’s star on Maxim.com, the digital counterpart to Maxim. SEGA is looking for the one girl who best captures the style and attitude of the heroine of PlatinumGames’ upcoming action game. The winning contestant will be spotlighted on Maxim.com and receive a Xbox 360, a 50 inch Panasonic TC-P50X1 HDTV Plasma TV and a copy of Bayonetta for the Xbox 360.
