It’s THQ week on Steam all week long, which means a discount on all THQ published games currently available via Valve’s digital distribution platform.

Vigil, Volition keeping busy
According to GameSpot story, a slide seen in an THQ investors’ presentation from February (click the screenshot to the left to check it out) offers a sneak peek at its release schedule for the next few fiscal quarters.
THQ’s in-house studios Vigil, Volition and Relic are hard at work on several games:
Vigil
Darksiders: Wrath of War: An action RPG for PS3 and 360, coming sometime this year
Darksiders 2: Coming sometime after April 1, 2011
An as of yet unnamed Warhammer 40,000 MMO also coming sometime after April 1, 2011
Volition
Red Faction: Guerilla: a third-person shooter for PS3, 360 and PC, coming June 9
Saints Row 3: a sequel to the popular open world, street gang franchise, planned for sometime after April 1, 2010
Red Faction “4″: planned for after April 1, 2011
Relic:
Company of Heroes Online: A persistent world RTS co-developed with Chinese online company Shanda is supposedly coming to the United States sometime in 2009-early 2010
A new Relic action game is planned for sometime after April 1, 2010
Also in the presentation, THQ promised a continued emphasis on its popular wrestling and fighting franchises, as well as more games from developers Kaos Studios (Frontlines), Juice Games (Juiced) and Blue Tongue (de Blob and the upcoming Marvel Super Hero Squad).
Conspicuously absent from the presentation was Big Huge Games, which is working on an as yet unnamed RPG headed up by Ken Rolston of Oblivion and Morrowind fame. BHG was recently hit with numerous layoffs and THQ has said it is looking for a buyer for the studio.

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor Revealed
THQ is working on a brand new stand-alone expansion to its popular strategy action game Company of Heroes, called Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor. The next standalone chapter in the real-time strategy game series is currently in development for Windows PC. The stand-alone expansion promises three new campaigns, new multiplayer modes and a “direct-fire” feature that allows for more tactical control during the heat of battle. Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor is being developed by Relic Entertainment, with a target release window of spring 2009.

Smoking Gun Secures Millions in Funding
Here’s a fact that shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. It takes money to make video games. And if you’re planning to make a really good game? Well, it might take a lot more money. That’s a lesson independent game studio Smoking Gun Interactive is taking to heart. The studio announced today that it recently finalized a multi-year, multi-million dollar financing agreement with private investors to expand the studio and the development of an as-of-yet undisclosed new property.
“This injection of private capital allows us to continue to control our own destiny, and deliver on our vision of taking interactive entertainment in new directions, and redefining what tomorrow’s games can be”, said John Johnson CEO and Creative Director of Smoking Gun Interactive, “We’ve expanded our core team with some exceptional talent, and with this financial expansion we’re now looking forward to welcoming new faces to our team and new partners to our business, as we become a leading force in independent games development.”

GamersGate Offers THQ Titles
Continuing to expand its digital relationships with more traditional brick-and-mortar publishers, Paradox Interactive has inked a deal with THQ to carry a number of its PC game portfolio on its digital distribution network, GamersGate. The agreement allows for distribution of select THQ titles worldwide — excluding Australia and New Zealand.
THQ games now on offer from GamersGate include Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Full Spectrum Warrior and Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights. The upcoming Frontlines: Fuels of War will also makes its way to GamersGate.
