EA Announces Red Alert 3: Uprising Cast
Hot on the heels of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 earning itself a nomination for the WGA awards, Electronic Arts decided to announce the live action cast list for its upcoming expansion to the popular RTS franchise. While the cinematics in the Red Alert games have always had tongue planted firmly in cheek, you can’t deny that EA/Redwood has always managed to get some recognizable Hollywood talent, and looking at the cast list, Uprising will be no exception.
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising picks up in the aftermath of Red Alert 3, and will take players deeper into the Red Alert universe with four new mini-campaigns. The game also features the new Commander’s Challenge mode, described as “a series of 50 challenging, over-the-top scenarios where players will need to battle through a gauntlet of commanders and obstacles in order to unlock the game’s powerful new units.”

EA Bringing C&C Red Alert 3 to PS3
Do you like your real-time strategy games set in alternate timelines, complete with Cold War flavoring, cheesy acting from big name talent, and uniquely interesting units? Well, if you spend your gaming time on the PlayStation 3, you’ve been out of luck. When Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 was released last October for the PC and Xbox 360, PS3 owners were left out in the cold. That’s going to change this March, according to an announcement from EA this morning.
Electronic Arts has announced plans to release Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition to the PlayStation 3, which will finally bring the Command & Conquer franchise to the PS3 for the first time. The Ultimate Edition will include everything from the original release of Red Alert 3, while using the Blu-ray’s disc capacity to pack in a massive amount of bonus content. The bonus features listed so far for Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition include:
- Five exciting new multiplayer maps
- Behind the scenes videos and trailers, including Raising the Iron Curtain Documentary, From Pens to Pixels, the Girls of Red Alert 3, Bloopers & Outtakes, the Red Alert 3 Remix and many more!
- PS3 exclusive Command & Conquer TV programming, including PS3-dedicated BattleCast™ PrimeTime and a special episode of Command School focused on tips, tricks and strategies from the development team
- In-depth profiles on all the Red Alert 3 Units
- The official Red Alert 3 soundtrack
“Our team has been dedicated to bringing the RTS genre to console gamers and we are excited to have this opportunity to introduce PS3 owners to Command & Conquer,” said David Seeholzer, Development Director at EA Los Angeles. “The PS3 is a very powerful platform, and the extra time we have had in development has helped us create the ultimate console RTS experience, with better graphics, improved performance, a ton of extras and some nice exclusive perks that cannot be found on any other version of Red Alert 3.”

EA to Red Alert 3 Owners: “Try Guessing”
Despite our own Tom Chick’s thoughts on the game, when Electronic Arts released Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 last week, there were a lot of fans eager to jump into the alternate history game. Unfortunately, one single keystroke was keeping them from saving the world. Due to a misprint on the manuals included with Red Alert 3, many gamers found they were missing the last digit from the title’s 20 character CD key. The solution from EA’s crack support team? “Try guessing”

Tiberium Canceled
The first action style game in the Command & Conquer series since Renegade has been canceled according to a Wall Street Journal report. The bad news was delivered by EALA studio head Mike Verdu, who proclaimed the game officially dead.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end to all work on ‘Tiberium,’ effective immediately,” said Verdu.
This is a bit surprising, considering that the company had recently pushed the game to late 2009. But apparently, instead of moving forward, EA decided to pull the plug. Along with this news, the report notes that there will be layoffs, but how many that would affect was not revealed at press time.
Tiberium was described as a tactical squad-based game featuring single-player and co-op play set in the Command & Conquer universe. Playing as a retired GDI field commander, the player takes control of R.A.I.D (Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment) in an effort to beat back the advances of Scrin.

Warhammer Online Gift for C&C RA3 Pre-Order
You have to give Electronic Arts some credit for be pretty smart with its pre-order program for Command & Conquer Red Alert 3. Riding on the coat tails of the popularity related to the Warhammer Online pre-order, the company revealed this week a special bonus item for those that buy Red Alert 3 for use in Warhammer Online.
The item in question is called Kossar’s Helm, a special helmet that players can use in Warhammer Online to transform into a fierce bear. The items are not tradable, are bound to the owner, can be worn at Rank 1 and are activated from the player’s hot bar. By activating “Call of the North” players are transformed into a large silver-furred grizzly bear. The bear is about six feet tall at its shoulders.
This special pre-order reward is in limited quantities and can be obtained by purchasing either the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 Premier Edition, or the regular PC version. Learn more by visiting ea.com.
Tiberium Delayed to 2009
EA’s second first-person shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe has been delayed until after fiscal Year 2010 (April 2009). The delay was announced yesterday during EA’s conference call. Tiberium is the second stab at creating a first-person shooter game set in the ultra popular real-time strategy game universe - the first being Renegade.
Tiberium is being developed by EA Los Angeles studio. Those itching for some hardcore action in the C&C universe will have to wait until next year unfortunately. The game is currently in development for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
