ps Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection Revealed online-playI’m a sucker for classic compilation packs, so when I heard about Sega’s plans to release a Sega Genesis game pack featuring 40 games (along with some unlockable titles, I got giddier than a school girl. The package includes multiple sonic games, Phantasy Star 2II - IV, shining in the Darkness, Shining Force 1 & 2, the Streets of Rage series, and a whole lot more.

The compilation will also feature a hearty batch of extra, unlockable content including arcade games, developer interviews and other extras. All of the games will also be upgraded to high definition so they look good on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and many of them will offer some kind of multiplayer option. The game collection is set for release sometime in Spring 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Full list of known titles after the jump. Thanks to Game | Life for the original story.

mm9 Mega Man 9 Hits WiiWare actionCapcom’s Mega Man 9 is now available via WiiWare for a mere 1,000 Wii Points. Mega Man 9 is a return to the series’ roots, offering retro graphics, classic gameplay, classically light storytelling and a return of all your favorite friends and enemies. My first impression of the game? It’s a lot of fun looks great and is as hard as hell. Perhaps my reflexes are not quite they used to be.  Still, I’m enjoying the game and appreciate the extra work it took to make this game look and play like a classic Mega Man game. Look for the game in the Wii Shop Channel under WiiWare beginning today.

Geneforge: The Final Chapter

Indie game developer Spiderweb Software announced Geneforge 5: Overthrow for Windows and Macintosh. This new game will serve as the final game in the Geneforge series. Geneforge 5 brings the story of the Shapers (a secretive sect of wizards with the ability to create life) to a climactic finish. Th game opens with a land ravaged by war as two sides fight for control of the world - the Shapers and the Rebels. The balance is so delicate in this tug of war that one hero (you) could tip the scales and end the war. Geneforge 5: Overthrow presents an open storyline that lets the player choose one of five factions - each with their own paths to bring an end to the war. Players can use stealth, diplomacy or sheer force or just wander aimlessly killing anything that moves.

Jeff Vogel’s Spiderweb Software has created some of the best independently developed role-playing games on the planet, so we have high hopes that this latest game will do the same. Learn more by visiting www.spiderwebsoftware.com.

What if you could have stopped time while playing all those rounds of R-Type and really take control of the action? What if I were to tell you that is now possible? Is that something you”d be interested in? Well then let me tell you about IREM and Atlus USA’’s plans to bring R-Type Command to North America.

Coming to PSPs everywhere May 6, R-Type Command is a bold re-imagination of the classic side-scrolling space shoot-”em-up that lets players take that lone commander out into space to combat the evil forces of Bydo in turn-based tackle battles. And if players are sick of being the good guy, they now have the option of taking control of the Bydo forces and launching an invasion force against Earth.

Other features include 100 different units to control, ship upgrades and head-to-head local multiplayer via Wireless Ad Hoc mode. R-Type Command is rated E10+ by the ESRB and will carry an MSRP of $39.99.
