Halo 3, Trials HD tops on Xbox Live

miner Halo 3, Trials HD tops on Xbox Live actionWhat’s hot happening and downright exciting on Xbox Live lately, According to data from Major Nelson’s official Blog, Halo 3 is all the rage for the week of Oct. 26, 2009. The top Arcade title for the week (based on sales, not usage) was Trials HD, followed by the new South Park tower defense game, Konami’s Zombie Apocalypse and Battlefield 1943. I can’t believe that Castle Crashers is still in the top ten after all this time.

The top Indie game for the week was Avatar Drop, followed by I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1, Pumpkin Chop, Miner Dig Deep and Headshot. It’s nice to see that Miner Dig Deep is getting some sales because it is one of the best Indie games released so far in my ever so humble opinion. The full list of games after the break.

Castle Crashers Necromantic Pack now available

As pointed out in this news story, The countdown clock on The Behemoth’s web site not only commemorates the 2 year anniversary of Castle Crashers - it also signifies the release date for the Necromantic Pack DLC being released on Xbox Live. The Necromantic Pack is being released (probably as I write this) today, August 26th for 160 MS Points.

As previously announced, the Necromantic Pack offers the two new weapons - the chainsaw and NG Skull Mace, two new characters - Necromancer and the Cult Minion, and the Dragonhead animal orb. Get it while it’s hot! - UPDATE: it’s available right now.

More Castle Crashers DLC in the works

castle More Castle Crashers DLC in the works action

Castle Crashers fans were pretty excited when they uncovered some artwork showing off a chainsaw, a strange animal orb not found in the game and a few new characters that weren’t playable. They expected these remaining items would have been released with the last DLC pack but it never happened and people were pretty bummed out.

But good things come to those who wait. The Behemoth announced that it will release the remaining charcters, orb and weapons in a new DLC pack called the Necromantic Pack DLC. So what’s left? Well there are two characters: the Necromancer and the Cult Minion; the Dragonhead animal orb, which The Behemoth says will “bring the heat”; and two new weapons - the lovely chainsaw and the NG Skull Mace.

No word on when that DLC will come out, though they say it is completely up to Microsoft and have designated is as coming out “soon.” What I am curious about is whether or not this new DLC will be included in the upcoming release of Castle Crashers for PS3.

Anyway, you can read about it at The Behemoth development blog. There’s also a countdown to the second anniversary of the game - August 27. Does that mean something special from The Behemoth? We’ll keep you posted.

The Behemoth’s Game #3 at San Diego Comic-Con

Castle Crashers programmer - The Behemoth’s Dan Paladin - is showing off Sushi and dropping hints on when we can all expect to see and hear more about the company’s next game - which is commonly known as Game #3. While talking about Easter and a photo of some nifty Castle Crashers themed sushi sent in by a fan, Dan Paladin also mentioned we can expect to see and hear more about Game #3 at the San Diego Comic-Con in July”

Work on the new game is coming along well. If I had to guess, I’d guess that sometime around San Diego’s Comic-Con (in July) we’ll have some more to share. That sounds about right!

We’re certainly looking forward to hearing more about this game. For a refresher on Game # 3, check out the previous released gameplay video below:

Details on The Behemoth’s Next Game

art Details on The Behemoths Next Game actionNew details on the next game project from The Behemoth - makers of Castle Crashers - have been revealed thanks to a blog post from Anoop Gantayat, who got the chance to play it “hands-on” at the Tokyo International Anime Fair.

The odd platformer will feature a number of mini-games including a block painting game where players run around the field painting blocks by touching them, with the goal of coloring more than your opponent. Another mode is “Soccer game,” where the player tries to knock a ball into a goal by bumping or punching the ball. Next up is a gold collecting game where players collect gold as it falls from a goldfish; the goldfish drops gold when it is stuck apparently. Finally there’s the soul collecting game where players collect the souls of fallen opponent for big points - after beating the holy hell out of them, of course.

He also noted that the demo was played on the Xbox 360, though no specific platforms have been announced.

The Games That Time Forgot

The games we're pulling together in this feature won't appear on any of those best-of lists and get confused looks when you mention them in conversation. Just because time has forgotten these titles, though, doesn't mean you should forget them, too.
