Boogie Superstars Announced

Electronic Arts today announced Boogie SuperStar, a follow-up to its karaoke-dancing game for the Wii released last year. Boogie SuperStar will feature more than 40 songs, according to EA, “made famous” (read: someone by someone other than the original artist?)such artists such as Rihanna, Fergie, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, Kanye West, and more. An additional 30 songs will be available on International versions ofthe game, allowing players to perform songs from local artists including Melissa M (France), Monrose (Germany), Finley (Italy) andFito y Fitipaldis (Spain).

Players (EA refers to girls a lot in this announcement) begin the game by customizing a character, choosing from “millions of possible combinations” to create a performer. From there you are “discovered” and flown to an island where you’ll sing and dance, building your skill. Once you are ready, you will perform for a panel of judgesin the ultimate competition, the Boogie Star Show. Players will sing into the microphone to their favorite songs and perform dance moves using the Wii remote. Beyond the solo game, players can get two- four-players together for some dancing and singing fun. The game will ship with a microphone included.

Look for it in time for the 2008 holiday season.
