ARMA II mod tools released

Bohemia Interactive has released the modification tools for its recently released military simulation shooter, ARMA II. The tools are completely free, and will be supported by Bohemia and the community at large. These tools allow players to create camo, models and weapons, vehicles or even whole new environments which they can then share with thousands of people online.

The ARMA II mod tools require ARMA II version 1.03. The tool suite consists of model editing and animation package, texture convertor and viewer, a packer, sound and lipsync utilities, a tool to edit and compile fsms used in ARMA II, conversion tool and more.

ARMA II Operation Arrowhead Announced

Bohemia Interactive announced this morning that it is developing a standalone expansion pack for ARMA II called Operation Arrowhead. The expansion takes place three years after the conflict in Chernarus, which unfolded in ARMA II. At this time a new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to try to restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties. The expansion will let players take on various roles in the US Army, including infantry, special operations, pilot, tank crew and more, says Bohemia.

ARMA II Operation Arrowhead will be presented during the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany from August 19th - 23rd. Bohemia will be at stand in hall 4.2, stand no. L034.

Operation Flashpoint and ArmA: Combat Operation makers Bohemia Interactive have released ArmA II, via Steam and through retail outlets through publisher Got Game Entertainment. No doubt the game will be showing up on GamersGate, Impulse and Direct2Drive as well - though I haven’t checked any of those places as of this writing.

Bohemia Interactive’s ARMA II is billed as a realistic military sand-box style first-person shooter game, powered by the company’s third generation Real Virtuality engine that is also being used to train soldiers in Australia and United States.

ARMA II promises the “ultimate realistic combat simulation experience” in a modern day setting, with freedom of movement, actions and tactics, and the usual assortment of combat on the ground as infantry and in armored vehicles, and in the air piloting or riding in gunships and helicopters of various makes and models. ARMA II Demo released

The Windows demo for Bohemia Interactive’s ArmA II is now available at the game’s official site - www.arma2.com. The demo for Bohemia’s sandbox PC military shooter puts players into the post-soviet republic of Chernarus as a soldier on the ground, in the air, on foot and armed to the teeth with real-world weapons and vehicles.

Scenarios play out in open battlefields on the ground on foot, in the shies above in aircraft, and behind enemy lines in tanks and other heavily armored vehicles. The demo features boot camp tutorial missions to get you started, the full single player mission ‘Trial By Fire’ from the main campaign and the multiplayer map ‘Mini Warfare.

ARMA II gets North American publishing deal

Bohemia Interactive and Got Game Entertainment have inked a partnership for the North American retail release of ARMA II. The deal will see ARMA II released to most major retail outlets throughout North America on July 7.

Developed by Bohemia Interactive, makers of the original Operation Flashpoint, ARMA II is the follow-ip to ARMA, a military simulation game that focuses on realism and offers a variety of perspectives as a soldier on the ground, in the air and beyond.

The game is powered by the 3rd generation of Bohemia’s Real Virtuality engine, which is also used to train soldiers in numerous countries from Australia to the United States.

ArmA II: Chenarus Details

arma4a ArmA II: Chenarus Details action Bohemia Interactive and IDEA Games have updated the ARMA II homepage with new information on the post-Soviet republic of Chernarus, which is the setting of the next game in the action military simulation game.

North-Eastern Chernarus is described as a hilly area with rocky coastlines; the tallest hilltops reach more than 700 m above sea level, covered with temperate forests. The environment is still relatively untouched from logging and mining, with the biggest cities and industry concentrated on the southern coast. Inland are smaller villages situated in the deep valleys, forest ridges and on elevated plateaus. This region is part of the game’s 225 square kilometer landscape, modeled using real-world geographical data of the Ceske Stredohori mountains.
